Re: Mohonk Mountain Lodge

Mohonk Mountain House has beautiful grounds, nice hiking trails and a good spa (I got one of the best massages EVER there). The lake is pretty to row across as well. Or you can just sit in a rocker on one of the porches and relax.

My least favorite thing about Mohonk is the food. But the atmosphere more than makes up for it.

Have fun!

Good tips. Our next work event is at Mohonk (about 2 hours from me) and I was debating going.

I was there about 10 years ago. . . and I am going back in November.
Beautiful place, beautiful grounds. . .and one last thing. . it's rumored to be haunted.

I was just there Monday for the 2nd time.

I agree with even eden, the food is so-so, but the views are gorgeous.

The skytop walk is a little steep, but there is a tower at the top that goes up a few flights of stairs & there are great views, and it feels like such an accomplishment, even though its only about a mile walk.

Get a trail map when you get there & check the activities board. Sometimes they have guided nature walks & things.

The town also seemed cute, but we didn't stop there.

There is a $10 fee for the boats, and I think $25 for the pool. I'm not sure if the beach is open to day guests, but it will be cold tomorrow.

Re: Mohonk Mountain Lodge

Your driving all the way to New Paltz for lunch?? WOW...

Its the most beautiful place...but its really for hiking...

The waterfalls are amazing in the woods.

I used to go hiking there all the time.

The Lodge is not relaly a "lodge" , its HUGE, the food is not too bad and the views incredible.

I love that place soooo much.

I dreamt of getting married there but it costs a trillion dollars....

I can imagine! Even to stay for one night is like $500. Chat Icon

(I was there just for the day both times. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Manhattan)

Re: Mohonk Mountain Lodge

We were up there last year on business for my DH. The place is gorgeous but you have to get use to the quiet. Since you are not staying there, you won't truly have to worry about the no TV thing.

The views are spectacular! I found sitting on the rocking chair by the lake was very relaxing. The food was so-so but definately enjoyable...

Have fun!

I went to school in New Paltz and Mohonk is definitely worth seeing. There is a lot of hiking and great scenery for taking pictures.

And the town has great restaurants and shops in case you feel like stopping off on the way there or the way home.

Re: Mohonk Mountain Lodge

Thanks ladies.

Well we hit tons of traffic (roadwork) on the way up - 3 hours.

Lunch - which was a bufett, it was OK but for $50 a person you would expect more.

Then we walked through the gardens - mom is pushing 80, and DD is only 10 weeks so we had a stroller, making movement limited.

Sat on a bench watching boaters.

Rocked on the porch and had nice talks.

Drive home -- more traffic, 3 hours door to door (had to drop off mom & sis too).

The grounds are sooo beautiful. I want to go in the fall with DH and DD, and stay overnight.
