Mold problem... Advice needed pls
I live in a 2-bedroom condo, and I have a severe mold problem in the bedrooms that keep reocurring. Right now the bedroom walls behind the beds, and dresser are completely covered with mold Everytime the walls get like that, I call our condo management office, and they send someone over to paint, ensure me the mold would go away. Not True..! Idk, what to do anymore. Tuckpointing did not work, the dehumidifier, I bought did not work either. Does anyone have some advice for me? I have 2 small children, and I'm worried about how this is affecting them.
Thanks in advance.

They need to remove the drywall and treat this by a PROFESSIONAL.
We had a black mold problem in my bathroom. I hired a company that specializes in this. They wore a full overall outfit, full face mask, special vacuum to make sure mold spores would not spread when ripping out the drywall. Then they treated with special chemicals.
Cost me $5K

Paint is NOT going to get rid of mold. The whole drywall needs to be replaced. They are putting you, and your family in harms way by NOT doing the right thing. You can all get very sick from mold. I would tell them you will call the company and send them the bill. Contact someone asap.

My DH used to do Mold Remediation and the only way to get rid of it is to REMOVE the sheetrock that is effected. Obviously, if there is something causing it, you need to address that as well.

100% Paint does NOTHING!! Mold grows and it grows fast! Paint will only cover up paint, so not sure what his logic behind telling you that was.
Call ASAP and get a professional in there to test the air quality in your condo.
In my old Apartment, my Landlord tried doing the work himself and I made him hire a professional to come in and test the air quality and it came back with extreme high levels. Needless to say, he paid for DH and I to stay at a hotel for a month until he took care of the problem 100%.

Re: Mold problem... Advice needed pls
Make sure they find the root of the problem. We had a mold issue in ds's room that was covered up by the previous owner . First we had to remove the roof and add an ice shield. Then we had to put new roof shingles down. Then have the room gutted cleaned and then put back together. Now we are finally mold free. If there is a leak somewhere then even if you replace the walls the mold will come back.

This is illegal(you are a renter correct?) This has to be fixed an dit definitely can caue health problems for you rkids. I would threaten that you will call the authorities i fthey do not immediately fix this..if you see it on yoru walls it is probably in other unseen places..they need to call a mold remediation company.

No, we own.
Than you may be responsible for the repairs. You will have to review your contract and see if you are responsible for repairs within the walls or if the management company is.
Either way the leak is going to need to be fixed, the mold removed by a mold removal company and the sheetrock removed and replaced.

But you must get to the source of the water entry first otherwise the mold may just return. Where is the moisture coming from?

Re: Mold problem... Advice needed pls
Thank you SO much everyone. You all are very nice. I really appreciate all the advice. We are responsible for damages inside our unit, but we were always told that the moisture was coming in due to lack of insulation in the Walls. They told me tuckpointing was supposed to take care of the problem.
Someone from the office came by, apparently, they will pay for the work in the second bedroom because the moisture is coming from the outside wall, and we will have to cover charges for the repairs in the main bedroom because they said the moisture is coming in from our windows.
Thanks again everyone.
