moldy basement
DH and i just moved into our new house. the basement is finished and nice and we've moved a TV and couches down there and all. but ive noticed that the air down there is thicker and more moist than it is upstairs. i know this is typical of a basement but i didnt think it would be so pronounced. is there anything i can do about this???

Re: moldy basement
Get a dehumidifier ASAP. If it's that bad down there it will fill up at least once a day taking the moisture out of the air.

ITA on the dehumidifier. I used to leave in a basement apartment. I would empty the whole bucket on a daily basis.

Re: moldy basement
totally. you need a dehumidifier. look on craigslist for a second hand one. it doesn't need to be beautiful, just needs to turn off when the H2O bucket is filled. you will notice a difference almost immediately.
remember, you don't want to live with mold. it's dangerous for everyone to breathe inside the home...
