Mommies whose babies have WIDE feet: what do you do for dress shoes?

DD has a wide foot and I am debating on what to do for Easter and other special occasions.

I know that as a child I had wide feet and couldn't wear cheap shoes. It was a pain.

Where can you get inexpensive wide shoes? I checked Payless and they only have two pairs of wide shoes in her size and only one dressy and they have a heelChat Icon Chat Icon

I brought DS to Stride Rite the other day and they said he had an extra wide foot...which now I realize is why he grew out of his shoes so quickly that I was buying b/c I wasn't buying the right kind. I need to look for a black pair of dress shoes for him for Easter and other parties within the next couple of months and not sure where I am going to go. I was thinking of looking at The Children's Place being they have a shoe section now.

The best I could find was at Shoebuy.com by starting at Ebates.com for 8% back on any purchase and then applying coupons too:

10% off any purchase + Free Shipping with Coupon EBATES10

or

Code: MADNESS08 Use coupon »
Discount: 20% off entire order! Expires: 2008-03-17

But they still aren't very cheap. I went through the same trouble trying to find rainboots for my DD.

I used to buy Alex's shoes in the StrideRite outlet. It was the only place that would carry shoes wide enough. As he has gotten older his feet aren't quite as wide and I can get away with buying shoes in Payless.

Best place to go locally is Wantagh Bootery for Stride Rite. They will measure and fit correctly. Stride Rite comes extra wide. Thats what my son always wore and I never had a problem. You can always ask the salesman if they have a less expensive pair. I did that once and they showed me an older model of the same shoe which was less expensive. I felt like I got a bargain while my son got what he needed!
