Moms - are there healthy food options for DC in Disney?
We will be picking up some groceries once we land in Orlando, but I am concerned about the food choices mostly for lunch for DD. I can give her fruit with breakfast and veggies with dinner, but am I really limited to chicken strips/chicken nuggets, pizza and burgers for the lunch selections? We aren’t planning on going back to our room unless DD (or one of us) gets cranky and we need to so I will have the fixings for a lunch or two in our room. We have some ADR’s for breakfast and dinner – the days we don’t I figure we can drive off Disney property for some healthier and less expensive suggestions. No ADR’s for lunch though. If I brought some toddler meals to heat up – would they heat that up for me? I really don’t want to give DD fried food every day for lunch. Just wondering about healthy food options.

You can check out the menus at all the eateries at each theme park here: http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm
Some have healthier options than others. Have fun!

Yes there are tons of burgers, pizza, chicken fingers - but we had no problems finding fruit (apples, oranges, bananas) yogurt, whole milk, water. Especially check out the food court - we stayed at the polynesian. With kids meals you have the option of apple slices or grapes - that come in a little bag - and they were great!
A lot of the sit downs have grilled chicken and vegetables on their menus. At the MK there is a place called cosmic rays that has grilled chicken and vegetables. Which DD loved - nice change from the junk.
Also in EPCOT there is sunshine something - in the land pavilion - they have fresh foods - it is counter service.
Also the sit downs are very helpful they will give you vegetables and will work with you if there is something you would prefer your DC to eat - we did this more than once - they were happy to give us fruit or vegetables at many of the places.

Mac N Cheese is also a choice as a kids meal (if your DD eats that). We got applesauce and grapes as sides and I peeled the skin off the grapes and cut them up. I did share some adult meals with her (rotissierie type chicken, salad, etc.). I also brought some of the toddler tubs and she ate those. I never warmed them though since it's not necessary and she would eat them room temp.

Oh I forgot a lot of places also have things like turkey sandwiches too if your DD will eat that. But you won't have trouble finding fruit, grilled chicken, etc but you might want to check out menus on allearsnet.com
I know a friend of mine said her son would only eat fruit, vegetables and yogurt and at every sit down she had no problems getting that. Also they are good - if you want something cooked plain they are good about doing that as well.
I found some of the counter service 1/2 chicken meals were huge and easy to share with DD.
