Moms in the 2 under 2 club....

I'm having a scheduled c/s on March 2. My daughter will be 15 1/2 months. As soon as I get my own room, I want my husband to bring my dd in so she gets to know the baby right from the start. But some people are telling me its a bad idea, since I will most likely be bedbound still at that point and it may scare her, especially if I'm too sore to comfort her in any way. What do you guys think? I think getting her used to the idea of another baby asap is the best thing....

My DD came almost right away, I didn't have a c/s. I guess it depends on how you think you will feel. Also, I wouldn't really count on her getting "use" to a baby at the hospital. Yes, she'll see the baby and be interested in her, but the true getting use to a baby happens at home. I also wouldn't expect that she's going to want to stay a long period of time It can be pretty overwhelming for them.

I had a repeat C-section and my mother brought DS to visit the very next day. I recovered extremely quickly and was actually walking around comfortably by that point though. I couldn't pick DS up (He was 14 months at that point), which bothered him, but he seemed happy overall to see me and he was slightly jealous of his sister.

My DS was just shy of 2 when I had my DD. My parents brought him to the hospital to visit and he was fine. He really had no idea he was in a "hospital" and had no idea this new baby was his sister! All he wanted to do was play with the TV remote on my bed. I had a VBAC so I was up and around. I am glad they brought him. I needed to see him more than he needed to see me Chat Icon

Mine are 16 months apart. I had a vaginal delivery and we decided not to bring her since I'd be home in 2 days. At that age it's still pretty much out of sight, out of mind - at least Sarah was that way. Once in a while she'd ask for me but my mom would tell her I was at the store and that was the end of it.

Our reasoning for leaving her home was that when I had Sarah my roommate's son got hysterical and insisted on sleeping in the room with her at night, and I didn't want to deal with any scenes like that. I missed her like crazy and drove my mom and DH nuts asking about her, but it was what worked best for us.

I had a c-section with both kids. Although they are not that close in age my son was alittle scared seeing me i bed after. I did not recover that well though. Once I spoke to him he was ok .

Re: Moms in the 2 under 2 club....

DD will be 14 months when #2 is born in July and i will most likely be vaginal, right now baby is breech, but i still have plenty of time for her to flip, hopefullly!

But we decided not to bring DD to the hospital, she's very attached to me, and like CathyB said, I don't want her to get upset at the hospital when she has to leave mommy.

I will miss her like crazy though!

I havent even thought of this! DS will be 14.5 months when #2 arrives and at Winthrop the sibblings can only be their from 2-4pm along with the grandparents if they want to hold and touch the baby. DS isnt attached to my hip and will stay with my mom or DH no problem even if I am around so I hoping he stays like that and that he come for the 2 hours. I cant imagine not seeing him.

Jiavana will be between 10 and 11 months when #2 comes. I couldn't imagine not seeing her for a few days. I definitely want to see her as soon as she is allowed!!
