Moms Interested in Special Education/Learning Disabilities, etc. (Guest speaker / Nassau County)
This should be a GREAT event for anyone and everyone in the field of Special Education.
TEachers may be familiar with the video/workshop called F.A.T. City. It is VERY well known among educators, and Rick Lavoie, the creator of these workshops, will be a guest speaker in the East Meadow School District.

Also, if youre still reading, a GREAT author (and SPecial Ed teacher) who has written many inspiring, incredible books, all of them are true stories. (The experiences she has had in her own life as a teacher to these exceptional children.. these books will stay with you forever... and so will she...)

ETA: If you can get your hands on a copy of the video (maybe ask your SEPTA officers, library, etc) before attending the event, you will truly get an appreciation for how much he has done, and how much insight he has given parents and teachers on how to connect and truly understand children with learning disabilities.

I am a special ed teacher who is pg and lurks on this board for info after baby is born. Rick Lavoie is awesome not just for Disabilities. It is so interesting and eye opening to hear how we talk to kids and how some kids process it. He made a video called Fat City a bunch of years ago which is awesome and a few others since.

F.Y.I. R.L. is lecturing at 3:45pm & 7:00pm 
After passing along the word in the school I teach at, both my principal and vice principal plan on attending the 3:45pm session  .
