Re: moms and clothes
I would understand as it makes you look older than you really are.

Re: moms and clothes
Well, for me, if it's something that my grandmother or DH's grandmother would wear I'd say it's too old for me. Some of the stuff my mom and MIL wear is a little old farty looking IMO.
And since I'm this side of 30, anything I see girls in high school wearing I'd say are too young for me.
But I'm fat and I was never trendy. I used to wear a button down shirt and slacks from Brooks Brothers every day for work.

Re: moms and clothes
I take that to mean that it's too frumpy for someone your age. That it may make you look older than your actual age.
If it were a Bratz t-shirt or something like that, it wouldn't be appropriate for your age either as it would make you look like a teenager instead of a Mom in her 20s/30s, etc.
Is that what you mean?

Personally, you really shouldn't care what people are saying...if it looks good on you, then sport it! I mean I personally wouldn't bust out with some low-cut shirts or anything too revelaling to begin with but as far as trendy clothing goes, if it fits well and you liike it, wear it!

My understanding of what people REALLY mean by saying this.
Too old for you: You look like your grandma
Too young for you: You are too old for the clothes style. You are not 15 anymore.

In terms of a bikini...well..I guess one that wasn't a string. I see no problem with other ones as long it covers what it needs to cover!

Re: moms and clothes
if you look good in a bikini - go for it. i think some mommies may not feel comfortable in them because they're playing, bending, running after their babies and they tend to pop out etc.

Re: moms and clothes
I think, for me, it is more about dressing age appropriate than about being a mom.
For instance, I would say shopping at Talbots is too old for me.
Now that I am 30, I certainly do not want to look like one of those people who are clinging desperately to my youth. I think it is possible to look great and not dress like a teenager. So for me, some examples of stuff I would never wear are: anything from Hollister, Juicy Couture I find too young and it no longer appeals to me, I find skirts that are too short to be inappropriate. Basically I do not like to look like a high schooler.

Re: moms and clothes
For me, if I like something and it looks good, I will wear it~ Do I go out with my boobs hanging out, NO, but that doens't mean I have to wear button ups all the time either. As far as bikini's, if your confident enough to wear a bikini, GO FOR IT, no rule that says, 'your a mom, put your bikini away". I wore one last summer and had no mishaps
ETA: I also think it depends on your body type. Some can get away with certain styles and still look presentable/appropriate~ I stay away from certain prints/logo's that I see my little cousins wearing~

It depends on who says it. I would understand
1/ I no longer have the body for it
2/ It's too revealing

ITA with Sophie & as long as you are not doing your weekly grocery shopping in a g-string, tell them to bugger off if it looks good.

Re: moms and clothes
I guess for me, too young are things that I used to wear in HS and College to show off my skinny A$$
Mini skirts and high heals are too young for me. When I see mothers deck out like that with their children in tow.. I don't know, its not the kind of attention I would want my little girl exposed to. I try to dress elegantly, and not slutty. does that make sence?
