Moms of 1+ year olds .... share your feeding schedules...

I just want to make sure that we're doing this right since the past few weeks have brought about a lot of changes with the change to whole milk and cutting out one bottle. This is what we have so far today and what is planned for the rest of the day

7am - 6 oz whole milk bottle

8:30am breakfast
fruit cup and 1/4 pancake, 1 yobaby and a few bites of cheese

10am Mid-morning snack:
cheerios

12noon: Lunch
mac & cheese
1 chicken nugget
white grape juice/water

1:30 -6 oz whole milk bottle

3:30 - mid-afternoon snack:
goldfish
white grape juice/water

6pm dinner
rice, chicken, brocolli, carrots -- whatever we're having and maybe some pasta/sauce or a half grilled cheese sandwich if she doesn't want to eat what we're having

7:45pm - 6 oz whole milk bottle

8:15-8:30 is bedtime.

She still takes 2 1-hour naps each day, one in the AM and one in the afternoon.

3pm snack, either cheerios, fresh fruit, fig newton or organic cookies and the other half of the bottle

6pm bottle of milk

6:30pm dinnertime, a protein (sometimes fish, sometimes tofu chicken, pasta, etc... whatever Dh and I eat for dinner), and a veggie

7pm bedtime

Re: Moms of 1+ year olds .... share your feeding schedules...

So Beth -- ALex only has 18 oz of milk a day?

I'm so concerned about that -- because the doctor said to keep it at around 18 oz a day for us -- and I was worried that it wouldn't be enough. We just cut out her 4th bottle this weekend --- so I'm trying to offer her snacks like cheerios to make up for it...and she DOES take them...but I'm just so used to counting the formula ounces and worrying about her not getting enough.

She is so skinny now, well, thin, but healthy -- definately not my little chubba baby that she used to be -- so that makes me worry too.

Also the doctor said that she wants us to get rid of the bottle by next doctor's visit (15 months) and I just can't imagine that! She barely finishes her sippy cups!

No, she still has at least 3 6 ounce bottles during the day, sometimes more if she's really feeling off... one full one when she wakes up, 6 ounces throughout the day at school, and one full bottle at 6pm... I'm trying to make up for it by feeding her more, but some days she just not into food... we're having ZERO luck with the sippy cup... she'll drink water from it but refuses to take her milk in anything but a bottle Chat Icon

Do you warm the milk up for her? When we switched over to milk she hated it I think because it was cold. Now we run her bottles under warm water for a few minutes before giving it to her so that it's warm milk and she drinks it up in 2 seconds.

Emily never comes close to finishing the sippy cups -- I wonder if it's because the fluid inside is always cold fluid!

Re: Moms of 1+ year olds .... share your feeding schedules...

7:30 am - Sippy cup of milk usually 8oz

8:30 am - breakfast at daycare (oatmeal, fruit, eggs, sausage, cereal, breakfast bars, yogurt, etc....)

10:30 am snack

12 noon lunch - they give the kids a variety of stuff

3pm - snack (sippy cup of milk also)

6pm - dinner - whatever we are having or Gerber entrees, Graduates soups or pastas.

7pm - sippy cup of milk

For some reason in the morning, Nate will not drink his milk cold so I put the sippy cup in the microwave for 20 sec. He'll drink it cold any other time

ALWAYS. She will NOT drink the milk unless it's at room temperature, which is beyond odd because she LOVES ice water Chat Icon

We do pretty much the same but we're lucky if Miranda gets even 12oz of milk in. She just doesn't seem to like it. It takes her all morning to finish a 6oz bottle. That's the only bottle she gets. The rest are sippy cups.
She does to seem to eat bigger portions on some days though. Like some mornings she finishes 2 eggs with cheese which is a big breakfast for a 1 year old.
Oh and vegetables don't get eaten either. I offer them but she never eats them so I try to make sure she gets fruits in.

8:30 6 oz bottle
9:00 1/2 piece of french toast or waffle or some cheerios
yobaby yogurt
1/2 jar of fruit

12:00 - 6 oz bottle
12:30 cheese stick, or eggs, or mini mozzerella balls, or cereal bar
jar of fruit
1/2 jar veggies

Nap from 1:45 - 5:00

5:00 6 oz bottle
5:30 - some sort of finger food (avocado, cheese, mac & cheese, pastina, eggs, cereal bar, pizza)
jar of veggies
1/2 jar of fruit

8:00 6 oz bottle
I used to give them chicken nuggets, or grilled chicken but they would gag on it, so we have pulled that back.

I have been giving Miranda cold (cool) formula bottles for so long that I never thought to warm the milk. I am going to try that becasue she definitely seems to drink it better once it warms up a bit.

We still warm over here too, they definitly drink it better when we take the chill off, even though the thought of luke warm milk makes me gag!

Re: Moms of 1+ year olds .... share your feeding schedules...

Bella thinks she is a rock star so...

5-7 am she gets 7-8 oz of milk (always cold)

10 am (sometimes as late as 11 am)
BREAKFAST
(cereal, pancake--although she ONLY will eat this at daycare, she threw it at me this weekend, waffle sticks (at home), and a jar of fruit)
bottle of milk--5 oz

2pm-2:30 pm LUNCH during the week--a full yogurt (not yo babyanymore, an adult Dannon), a piece of cheese (american or mozzarella), a jar of veggie
weekends--pizza, chicken nuggets, grilled cheese--she's very picky
sippy cup of water

4pm--5 oz bottle

6:30--DINNER--this is a total toss-up--chicken nuggets are a great fall-back, a gerber graduates meal, a jar of fruit or veggies, bread...whatever she'll eat. sometimes it's just a thousand cheerios.

7pm bathtime and then 2-3 oz bottle.

ETA: Bella drinks about 18-20 oz a day. Doc said to keep it 16-20, so I am fine with that even if she goes over some days...milk is good for them.

at daycare she goes 8 HOURS a day without a nap!!!! SOOOO freakin' nosey, she basically has to fall flat on her face from exhaustion to take a nap. And they try so hard...DH picks her up at 4 pm, said she falls asleep b4 they are out of the parking lot and sleeps until like 5:45-6 pm!

At home, she takes 2-3 naps a day from 45 minutes to an hour...NEVER longer that 1 hour and a half...EVER...

as you know Antonio is a "very" pickey eater...if he does not like something he will spit it across the room

btw-when we first transitioned to milk he was drinking it like formula but he has decreased the amount on his own.

6:30-9:00 8 oz bottle

10-11-breakfast
french toast or pancakes
fuit (dole cut up peaches or fresh fruit)

1-3 lunch(one of the following choices or on really picky days a little of each)

"mystery" sandwich -ingredients (anytthing we ate the night before with cheese in the panini maker)

yogurt
pancake
elbow pasta
fruit

4pm bottle (not really interested in this one anymore)

6:30 dinner
"mystery" sandwich
fruit

8:00 bottle and bed
