Moms of 6 month olds...can you share your nap schedule?

Now that Riley is in daycare (which she LOVES by the way- and I love it too!) she naturally has a harder time taking her naps. Her schedule at home is completely different than the one at the Learning Experience. (If you have one of these by you and you're looking into daycare- you must check it out!!)

I'm curious to hear how your DC sleeps through the day. While at home, it seems Riley is always ready to go down an hour & a half after she wakes up...but in daycare it seems to be a completely different story. I'm wondering if maybe I could keep her up for longer stretches like they do at daycare....but I still go by her cues and she gets tired so easily.

I'm especially curious to see how your DC sleeps while at daycare vs. home too.

TIA!Chat Icon

Re: Moms of 6 month olds...can you share your nap schedule?

If DD is home all day, she'll nap about every 1.5hrs to 2hrs of being awake

If DD is out, it varies...she can be up longer if we're visiting family etc, but it will vary depending upon whats going on

Why do you want to keep her up longer at home? My DD seems to like and need her naps, I don't want to keep her up longer

Well, I just wonder if it's possible and 'healthy' for her to do so...just so I can spend more time with her since I miss her so much during the week. Chat Icon Wasn't sure if I was stunting her growth by putting her to sleep all the time.Chat Icon

I find that I CAN keep him up longer by playing constantly w/ him, but he gets cranky no matter what we're doing if he's up to long.

He's still on about 3-4 short naps a day.

up at 6:45 or 7.
nap 9-9:45
nap 1-1:45
nap 3-3:30
nap 5:15-5:45

Bed after 8PM bottle.

Ohhhh, sorry...I could see where you're coming from now...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

As PP mentioned, even if I do more with DD at home, she'll still want to nap around 1.5 to 2hrs, its like that's how long she can handle everything, then she's cranky and tired. I figure when she gets a bit older and naps less, we might miss this nap time Chat Icon

DS is 5 months and he naps after about 2 hours after being awake. Each nap usually lasts about 45 minutes.
Occasionally he will take a really long nap and then he's awake for longer after it.

Re: Moms of 6 month olds...can you share your nap schedule?

DS (almost 6 months) just started daycare this week too. he is actually sleeping ok there-seems to do an hour or just a half hour in the AM and a 2 hr nap in the afternoon, yet today at home he woke at 8am and was in his crib by 9:45 and slept til 1:20! Chat Icon so i guess he does one nap at home and 2 at daycare?
i'll have to see what the coming weeks bring.

Ann is not a big napper. And especially not on weekends when we're all home (which I guess works out for spending more time with her but works against my chances of getting much done! Chat Icon ).

We've been up since about 7:30 this morning (which is late for us) and I think she's only napped about 30 mins in the swing when I was at the chiropractor and maybe another 15 mins in the swing.

I think she usually has three naps at daycare and sometimes a nap can be 20 mins there, other days it's been over two hours. I'll let them do whatever they need to do there as far as her schedule.

DS takes 3 naps a day.

A morning nap around 9 am (for about an hour)

A nap at around 12:30 or 1 for another hour or so.

And a late afternoon nap at around 4 for about 45 min- an hour.

At that time she was taking two naps during the "school day" and sometimes a cat nap around 430 or so.

Tara, I think I remember you posting that Riley just started this new daycare recently. When Jake started his daycare he was taking short naps, a couple of times a day. So, he was up a lot more. Now that he has been there for 2 months, he has developed a new schedule with them that we try to keep up at home on the weekends:
Up at 7:15ish
Nap 9-9:45
Nap 11:30-1:00
Nap 4-5
Out for the night at 8:30

On average he takes 3 hours of naps a day, spread out over 3 naps. I think you might need to give Riley some time at this new center to see what her schedule will be. It might end up changing with time. So glad to hear that you like the daycare!
