Moms of babies around 7 months
Do you find that your DC gets very frustrated that they can't do certain things? If so, what do you do to ease their frustration?
Steven sits pretty nicely, but still not perfect. he hasn't pulled himself into sitting from laying, YET he is trying to pull himself up from sitting to standing. Then, when he is standing with support from someone, he tries to run. Yes, run. not walk...run. And, he gets so frustrated that he starts to cry.
It goes like that for other things too. He wants to do things that he just can't and he gets frustrated and mad.
He needs constant stimulation, which is fine. Exhausting, but I don't mind. However, there is only so much he can do physically and I don't know what else to do for him.
Am I doing something wrong? Am I introducing him to things too soon? I try to follow the age sugestions on the toys.

They usually get frustrated at this age, its normal you're not doing anything wrong. In my experience it means they're close to standing or walking. DS is 8 months and he kept getting frustrated and crying, and then a week later he was standing up and trying to walk.

Oh, one more thing...I also have books of activities to do catagorized by age, and I do them, but he gets bored and tries to do more. So, I do the ones for like 9 months, and he loves them.

well my boys are 8 and a half months, and Matthew is crawling and will get frustrated if he cant reach something or have something. he goes from a crwaling to a sitting position very well, but will sometimes flop like a fish on is tummy if he gets really tired and then gest very frustraing. He also gets frustrated when he is trying to stand and gets to a standing position and then falls.

Thanks! Is it OK if I do things for older age groups? Like 9-12 months? Because the 6 6-9 month stuff just doesn't cut it for him. I know it sounds like a silly question, but I don't want to do something that could be hindering to his development by introducing him to things too early. KWIM?

Re: Moms of babies around 7 months
It sounds like you are doing all of the right things. DS seems very observant and has probably been watching you all get up and go & it makes him want to also. It's a real transitional time for these young ones. They are stuck between still being newborns & toddlers. My DD gets frustrated but mostly with her toys. She grunts and groans at them mostly. Once in a while she cries from frustration....when I take something away.
Hang in there! But to ease your mind...I think you are doing a great job putting in the extra effort with Steven.

I am guessing Christopher is not crawling? Does he get frustrated as well? Is he less active and also less inclined to throw a "fit" as I call them, LOL.
Sorry for all the questions, I just want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong

Its definitely ok, I let DS play with his 12 month toys because he's just not interested in the stuff for his age group.
Also, you might want to invest in this if you don't already have one. Its been a life saver for me with all 3 kids! Wide Tracker Activity Walker

Re: Moms of babies around 7 months
DD is 7 months too and she gets frustrated sometimes when she wants a certain toy but I don't give it to her. Or when she wants to hold a toy but she she can't grab it. She's pretty content so hang out on her belly- she's not crawling yet - but she LOVES to stand. She sometimes will get mad if we make her sit and she doesn't want to. She's always happy standing up.
Oh, and she tries to turn the pages of the board books I read to her - and when she can't do it, she gets mad!

Re: Moms of babies around 7 months
DS is the same age, and yes he is getting fustrated by things he cant do like: sit up from a lying down position. He tries to crunch himself up or grab on to things to sit up but he just cant do it. He wants EVERYTHING or tries to grap everything in front of him. Changing him has become a nightmare, he will not sit still, he tries to roll over and crawl away.....mind you he cant crawl yet so he get fustrated at that..... He goes to standing position very well if he grabs your fingers, he does not get fustrated but happy because he finally accomplished something
Constant stimulation..... he has an attention span of a fly as soon as he sees something new he wants it. But most times he sits very well, he is content playing by himself in his carriage, highchair or packnplay.
Where did you get that list of activities?

One more thing.....I am always buying him new toys that he can interact with or stimulate him but all he wants to do is EAT them...
Does your DS do that?
