Re: Moms of cury haired girls.....

Well, I actually had her head shaved when she was 3 months old, but it was before it got curly!!

She started losing a ton of hair between 2 and 3 months and had a horrible Donald Trump comb-over, so I took her to get it shaved.

Best. Decision. Ever.

It's so nice and even now. It started getting curly around 11 months and now it's insane. I have to wet it after each nap. Sometimes I use detangler. After she's been in the carseat awhile the back looks like a huge frizzball.

I was thinking about trying some Deva Curl products.

I'm not planning on cutting it for a long time as long as it looks ok.

I am a hairdresser and I hate to tell you this, but the best thing to do is to let is be and just let it grow. The only way that I would say to cut it, is if it was EXTREMELY uneven to the point you could not even do her hair at all.

Thanks Chris......should have asked you in the first place Chat Icon !!!

And to everyone else to replied...thank you ! I'll start with some conditioner and go from there...

My DH is afraid about exposing her to the chemicals in our stuff, but I think for the small amount we will be using she should be just fine no ?

Try the California Baby, no chemicals in there. I got the bottle on Amazon for like $11, I bought it a couple of months ago and it is at least still 3/4 full. It makes DD's hair so soft and shiny too. It can also be used as a leave in conditioner.

My daughter has very hurly hair. Luckily, so do I, so I knew how do deal with i from the start! Chat Icon

Rule of thumb is, you NEVER comb it try, always with the wet hair comb at least, or better yet, with the conditioner.

I have trimmed her hair just a bit a few times, just to freshen up the ends and it started to grow faster. Mostly, it's all about letting it grow out, get heavier and start falling down under its own weight.

As far as products, I use the exact same ones on her as I do on my own hair. Someone on LIF recommended http://www.jessicurl.com/ and I have been using a lot of things from there on both our hair. It's great and the deep conditioner is fantastic!
