DH can't stand nailpolish on dd.

About 3 years old she became obsessed with nailpolish. My niece put it on her.

After that, we let her have it if she stopped sucking her thumb, which she did for almost 3 months.

Now she's back sucking her thumb, so no nailpolish unless my sister is babysitting & my niece needs an activity to do with her.

Hmmm...I can't remember exactly when she first had it done, it was definitely before 2. She and my mother love to get together and paint their toes and nails now that she's older. Originally, she was only allowed to get her toes done so I didn't have to worry about it going in her mouth. Probably around 18 months is my guess.

Re: Moms of girls--polishing nails

We started when she was 2. I am Chat Icon to say that I now take her about once a month to get her nails/toes polished. (They are a smudged mess if I do them at home because she doesn't let them dry long enough.)

Re: Moms of girls--polishing nails

I started painting my dd toes when she was a baby. She was so cute with her little summertime toes. I don't think it is a huge deal.

dd is almost 16 months and I Can't imagine painting her fingernails so young. Maybe if she were older, or if she saw me painting mine (which I don't do) and wanted me to do hers I might. But she is beautiful just the way she is.

I am soooooooo liberal, so laid back that I am horizontal...and I am really surprised to read this thread! I can't imagine painting a young childs nails!!! Maybe a 3 year old, but an infant! Thats so beauty pageant! If you want to do it, fine...not criticising, but I can't imagine painting a toddlers nails!!!

Ella's 13 months, and I wouldn't even consider it. Not until she's much older.

DD started asking around 2. I paint her nails and townails if she wants, and she will also go to the salon with grandma once a month or so. I really sere no issue with it.

You'd be surprised. Like I said it's not for me. I think my daughter is way too young BUT I know tons of other moms(with girls the same age) that are doing it already.

Honestly, it never even entered my mind until I read this thread--and DD will be 2 in 6 weeks. No one has ever asked me about it either. I don't know--I guess I would imagine around 3-4 years old?

Re: Moms of girls--polishing nails

Not a fan of polish on babies or little girls. Just not my thing I guess.

Re: Moms of girls--polishing nails

I won't paint Molly's nails until she is much older..like in school older. I just don't see it as necessary to introduce a baby/young child to it

I can't even imagine polishing my daughter's nails. To me that is like wearing make-up, and will not be happening for quite a few years!

Totally agree... it wouldn't even cross my mind at this age. Frankly, it probably wouldn't have crossed my mind until the day she asked.

OMG really? I wouldn't even think of it this soon. DD wouldn't even think about sitting still enough for that. There would be nailpolish everywhere.

Re: Moms of girls--polishing nails

I am not sure, I thought about when I would do it. Not that I would do it now at 13 months - she wouldn't even know what the heck was going on. However, I am just excited to do cute things with her. I have a step son who I obviously had to do boy things with so I am looking forward to girly things now too. I don't however want to teach her to be vain. So I guess we will see.

Re: Moms of girls--polishing nails

I get Julia little pedicures when she goes with me now, I dont get her nails done cause she puts her fingers in her mouth, and would want her eating the polish.

I don't see the big deal. I would paint Kaitee's toes now if she would sit still long enough.
