Moms of High Needs Newborn
How do you deal? I could handle it with DD because it was just her but now with DS it's killing me. He doesn't sleep, you can't put him down so I feel like I can't pay any real attention to DD. I'm tired and stressed to the max!
Any advice?

Re: Moms of High Needs Newborn
I only have DS... but he's quite a handful... he also doesn't like to be put down at all. very rarely will he accept the swing or bouncy seat.
I own (but haven't yet tried) a bjorn carrier... I know people who swear by it. the kids are fascinated
I think I'll try it out this week. I would LOVE to be able to clean or do some cooking while DS is awake..... or even just get a drink from the fridge!

Yes the Bjorn is fine but you really can't get anything done while they're in it. Maybe vaccuum, pick up some things but you can't bend over easily because of their heads. They say not to cook with your baby in a Bjorn or sling because of a the danger. Ack! This is so frustrating.

oh, I wouldn't fry or boil something with him hanging over the pan I'd be grateful if I could just sit at the kitchen table and prep veggies and rinse some dishes.....
It would be great if I could clean the stovetop and counters.... who'd have thought that I'd be pining to clean the kitchen

Re: Moms of High Needs Newborn
My DS was like that in the beginning. He never wanted to be put down. He would not nap unless I was holding him. No swing, no bouncy seat, he only wanted me! Tried the sling and he wanted OUT. Then at about 8 weeks he changed and was like a new baby. Much happpier and much less high needs. I am hoping the same happens for you!

That was my ds in the beginning. I couldn't put him anywhere, not the swing, not the bouncy seat not the carrier. What worked for us - baby wearing. I wore him all the time. I would put him on and he would usually fall asleep within minutes. By wearing him, I could run around the park with her, dance with her, play ball, etc. It was a life saver.
I was usually able to get him to take one long nap in the afternoon if I swaddled him really tight and then nursed him. Once he fell asleep, I could usually put him in the swing.
On the positive, once 8 weeks rolled around - he changed and became the best baby in the world. Now, he is so easy and a pleasure to be around. His nature has become one of pure patience and acceptance. He doesn't demand or whine. He sleeps through the night for the most part. Naps aren't great but he doesn't get cranky.
Hang in there - it gets better.

Don't try to bend...squat. That is what I did and was able to do so much.
