Moms of kids with bad hair

I just can't take Jack's hair. We get a haircut - and it never ever grows in the spiky way I want it to. His hair is ridiculously thick so anytime I gel it or spray it or anything - it looks crazy within the hour. DH has bad hair too and always struggles to find the right products.

I am thisclose to shaving it all off.

What else can I do?

And to top it off Tyler has fabulous hair just like his mommy Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I've just given in to buzzing Nick's hair.
He's got really corse weirdo hair like his daddy. Chat Icon

But he does look SUPER cute w/ a buzz cut, so I'm fine with it.

What do you do with Jack's hair?

Do you put in products? hairspray? blow dryer?

We just buzzed Luca's hair for the first time last week and we LOVE it. He's got very thick, unruly hair that starts to curl in a weird way if it gets too long.

When he's old enough to do his own hair he can grow it out Chat Icon

Ok - well here goes.

First I have to trap him somewhere to get him to let me do it....once it's done he always says "Mommy, I'm a handsome Prince" - so I'm not sure why we have to fight everytime to get him to look like a handsome prince.

I wet it first.
Then either put in gel or pomade (whichever James buys at the time)

Then I spray it with a squirt or two of hairspray.

The last haircut he got they cut it too short for it to be spiked - so it had to grow in a bit -- then when it grew it it was too long and rough to be spiked up. I'm seriously at a loss here

Wow, he lets you put gel and what not in his here???? Chat Icon TJ has thick, blonde "brillo pad" hair as I call it. I just get it cut short and leave it. Nothing fancy except for school pictures and holidays Chat Icon

Spray his hair with a water bottle. Don't make it too wet. Put some gel in your hands and then work it through the top of his hair. Spike it up, spray it with hairspray and then blow dry it. While blow drying, with your hands style his spikes.

i know this sounds like a lot of steps..but it's not. lol!

Blow drying is key because that is how the spikes stay put! Dont be scared with hairspray. One or two squirts wont work.

Re: Moms of kids with bad hair

I would buzz it down..

I don't like putting so much products into little kids hair at such a young age.. it looks adorable but he'll be bald by 13 at that rate! lol

They will...and they also wont be bald by 13Chat Icon Chat Icon If all of us still have our hair after all the hairspray we used back in the day...a little gel and hairspray wont hurt them!

Re: Moms of kids with bad hair

DS had fabulous hair until I buzzed it for a summer. Never grew back that same awesome way again. Chat Icon So, all we do is buzz it now with hopes it will at some point grow in thick again.

Re: Moms of kids with bad hair

Ok - he just got a haircut - the guy used the blowdryer so let's see how long it lasts. I will do the same.

Bicosi - I'm not so worried about his hair and the products because I only style it on days we have parties or something like that. I couldn't do it everyday - I'm just not that organized Chat Icon

Yes - but what's interesting is that he sprayed it first - and then used the gell - and then the blowdryer. Let's see if that little trick works Chat Icon

Same here...so much easier to buzz Lucas' hair and he looks so cute! I wish he had DH's curly hair on top Chat Icon

Re: Moms of kids with bad hair

My DS has super thick hair... just like me!

In the morning when he wakes up, the back of his hair is all kinky and wacky from the way he sleeps, making it stick up in about 50 different directions. I really can't take it anymore either and most days, he goes to daycare with crazy hair.

He's getting it cut this weekend. I think for the first time ever, we are going to go VERY short.

I would keep the sides short and use "hair glue" for the top. I use Garnier Survivor glue. My son's "flip" stays put all day when I use it Chat Icon

I am going to buy this tonight - and a new hairspray.

It still looks great and the barber did it hours ago. THere may be something to the whole spraying it, then gelling it. Chat Icon

Landon's hair is thick, but not THAT bad. I use Axe Spike-Up Look Putty on his hair and love it. It holds the style but is not stiff.

DH buzzes him. I always HATED buzzed hair on kids but then I had a kid with bad hair and it's the only option! And I think he looks so much cuter with it buzzed than wild and crazy!
