moms of NBs who are breastfed- added more info
how long does your DC nap? im only getting 20-30 mins out of DS bc he eats every 2 hrs.
how often is ur DC eating?
ETA: He will feed on one breast about 20+ mins and the other about 15. So lets just say 45 mins total. Then add the diaper change, almost an hr has gone by. Then he will "play" for awhile bc hes wide awake (by play i mean- bouncy, plamat, crib looking at mobile). Then he gets fussy so i lay him down in swing and he'll drift off but now its only like 20-30 mins til the 2 hr mark is up, hence why hes only sleeping20-30 mins

Re: moms of NBs who are breastfed
Are you waking him to eat? With DD#1 and DD#2 we fed on demand. DD#2 is only 7 months so I remember better. She would eat about every 2 hours when she was awake - sometimes less sometimes more. I never woke her though. She would take some cat naps and some 3-4 hour naps. Do you give bottles - my DD#2 refused bottles so I was stuck feeding her each time - she still doesn't - but if you pump you could try having someone give a bottle so you get a bit of a break.

Re: moms of NBs who are breastfed
When they are NBs, they really don't have a "nap" schedule. They pretty much just sleep all day and wake for feedings. As your DS gets older he will go for longer periods between feedings. They also won't take as long. I remember when DD was a NB that a feeding could take up to 40 mins. Within 3 months we were about 20 mins or so. And by 5 months old, we are done, soup to nuts, diaper change and all in 15 mins.

Re: moms of NBs who are breastfed
no he wakes up literally at the 2 hr mark Same here. DS is the king of precision. Every two hours during the day he wakes for a feeding. Feeds take anywhere from 10-30 minutes (I'm still baffled about which breast to offer and when one is empty). And then he falls asleep and is up at the next two hour mark from the time he started his last feed. This typically gives me about an hour to nap....which, but the time I unwind and am able to fall asleep...it's about 45 minutes. How long is your DS eating for?

Re: moms of NBs who are breastfed
Colin is 9 wks. He eats every 3-4 hrs during the day now. And the last few nights I'm getting 5 hrs stretches or so
Our schedule "kinda" looks like this:
7AM or so - up to nurse (then I pump and Colin naps in the swing from about 8AM-11AM)
11AM - nurse
12:30PM - nap usually (1.5-2 hrs)
4PMish - nurse
5:30PM - nap (1.5-2 hrs)
8PM cluster feed a bit until bed
last night - 9:30PM - 3:15PM sleep nurse and then he was up about 6AM with gas so I nursed, burped, etc.
Basically it's nurse every 3-4 hours during the day, he naps for 1.5-2 hours and is up for 1-1.5 hrs in between. He is an efficient nurser - done in about 20-minutes.

Re: moms of NBs who are breastfed- added more info
In the beginning DS ate 15 each side every three hours. We actually started this in the hospital & it stuck - pure coincidence I'm sure.
Now at 11 wks it varies...there are days where he's napped 5 hrs & I had to finally wake him...to where he can barely nap 30 mins. He still eats every 3-4 hours except at night he is STTN. The other night he went a good 9 hrs...I woke up in pain!

My DD Eliza ate every 2 hours until she was 5 months old. It was hellacious and NOTHING worked to change it. Suddenly one night she went 4 hours between feedings.
Some kids just need to eat more often in the beginning.
