moms of three year old kids
what do you feed them, my daughter has become such a picky eater but I want her to have a balanced diet.
do you cook them a separate dish or whatever you eat?
TIA!

Re: moms of three year old kids
Hi, Ava just turned 3 in July and eats nothing... It is sooo stressful to me. have taken her to the Ped, bought a million books and even thought of calling a nutritionist.
Ava was born at 9lbs and was always very healthy. She did great on formula and babyfood. Tons of fruit and veggies. Then when I stopped the baby food, she ate yogurt, fruits and veggies.
Now, she no longer eats any fruits except for the ocassional banana and the only veggy she eats is corn (which is pretty much just starch).
She will eat chicken nuggets, mac and cheese and chocolate milk. I always offer her whatever we are eating but that never works. She will not eat beef or fish. She doesn't even really eat bread. She will eat chicken noodle soup- but picks out the chicken and carrots- So it's basically noodle soup.
I don't keep much junk in the house- but watch out if she sees ice cream cookies or cake...no problem eating that and asking for 2nds. I also don't give her much juice, and no soda.
The weird thing is she doesn't like a lot of the kids stuff- hates french fries and won't touch pizza!! A friend offerred her a hamburger- she saw it and said "No Thank you, it looks like poo."
The Doctor said that she is perfectly healthy and gowing well- it is just a phase that will pass....I hope so. I hope you are having better luck on your end. If you have any tips, please share.

Re: moms of three year old kids
My 3 year old was always so picky! Wouldn't eat the same things we'd eat. But he loves pasta, so most times i would just make him some fun pasta shape and add some tomato sauce. If your 3yo loves certain foods, like pancakes or cereal, i'd give them that. I was good as long as he ate something that wasn't junk food.

Re: moms of three year old kids
I consider my 3 year old DD picky. I just keep trying to give her foods and hope eventually she will learn to like them. She will only eat baby food veggies but atleast it's better than nothing.
I consider her picky but you can decide. Right now these are the foods she eats:
Breakfasts: eggs and toast cream of wheat w/ fruit (I sometimes add and egg in the cereal) cherrios or honey bunches of oats cereal fresh fruit smoothies waffles or french toast
Lunch/Dinner: chicken nuggets fish sticks pizza grilled cheese eggs pb&j sandwich baby food veggies
Snacks: fruit: apple w/ peanut butter, banana yogurt nuts fruit smoothie w/ berries & cottage cheese cheese and crackers of course she likes "bad" stuff too but I try to limit it

Re: moms of three year old kids
DS started getting picky around 3 or so. I still have so many food issues from when I was a kid that I don't want to pass them on to DC.
At this point, our main objective is that he's getting enough calories. Some days he doesn't eat what we'd like him to, but he does eat. It's a phase that they'll get over, so I don't want food to be an unhappy time for him. Luckily for us, he loves fruit, and usually has fruit for snacks. Vegetables are hit-or-miss.
