Moms of toddler to older kids......
How important do you think leather seats are in the car?
We are in the market to buy a minivan and for whatever reason DH is totally stuck on getting leather seats because they won't get "destroyed" like cloth seats will.
It's really limiting our options I feel. We can totally afford a fully loaded newer model (2009 or better) with the cloth seats, but he's being stubborn.

Re: Moms of toddler to older kids......
I'm partial to leather with kids. Both our cars currently have leather seats, and in shopping for a new car, I'm looking for leather again.
If you can't afford it, I wouldn't make it a deal breaker. Its a "nice to have".
(I don't know that the cloth seats would get destroyed - its just so much easier to clean the leather. Especially since Ella was prone to car sickness )

Christopher isn't that much older, but I don't think it is a necessity personally. I mean, they are in carseats forreevvverrr. We have four cars (all hand me downs except one) and only one has leather and we've never had an issue

Re: Moms of toddler to older kids......
My SS is 13.5 and has been in every sport known to man, so lots of tracking dirt, mud, stuff from the snack bar etc. He also is prone to migraines and has thrown up in both cars numerous times. We have one car with leather seats and one with cloth, neither seems to be better than the other, they are both holding up well.
Leather is nice to have because it is quicker to clean, but it wouldn't be a necessity for me.

Re: Moms of toddler to older kids......
We just bought a brand new minivan with CLOTH seats. My DH was the same--had to have leather. We have leather in our Accord, and it's destroyed from the carseats anyway. Plus, my thought was it's a MINIVAN...not a luxury vehicle. My cousin has three girls and a minivan with cloth and she told us it is absolutely fine. Finally, I don't enjoy burning my a$$ in the summer.

I'm big on leather in the car anyway... so we have leather in my car, and when I take the carseats out to do a big clean, I love how easy it is to wipe the seats clean and freshen them up with a leather wipe. I also find they don't wear as qucikly and are less likely prone to rips and holes, but we know with kids, anything is possible no matter what you have!
