I always sing "If your Happy and You Know It" and she smiles.
I agree with the after nap and meal and keep snapping. I generally take close to 80 pics and keep maybe 20.

Im a big one for getting them to look out the window at something...or rather looking FOR something. Say "can you see the green monkey in the tree?" or I sit them at the kitchen table and take a pic right before I give them a snack usually gets big smile..."smile for mommies cookies" or...let them smell the flowers...

It's tough! I just take more candid and action type shots now. I miss the days when DS would just sit there and smile at me. Now he's too busy. I'm waiting for the day when he will pose for me! I use a zoom lens a lot so he doesn't even realize I'm taking his pic. But I still have tons of pictures of him running in the opposite direction.

Re: Moms of toddlers please give me your picture tips and tricks...
LOTS of pictures.... Figure out their "best" time during the day. For both DC, it was usually mid-morning. They were awake and fed, and not hungry for lunch yet, and naps were always after lunch. I have DW help out. I'm usually lying on the ground to get eye-level shots, and DW is right above me trying to get their attention. When they are really hard to stay still, we have to coordinate really well. DW will hold DC still, count to 3, and let go of DC. As soon as her hands leave the frame, I take the picture. DC usually doesn't have enough time to move too far.
