moms on maternity leave (or those that were on leave during the winter)
what do you do all day? I feel like I have cabin fever...I'm still scared to go in the car alone with DD and its too cold for walks...just wondering what a typical day is like for all the other new moms.
Mine are pretty lazy and unproductive

Re: moms on maternity leave (or those that were on leave during the winter)
I clean A LOT while they're sleeping - I also had 3 months of not cleaning (while I was on BR) so I can't get enough of it!
In the beginning when they were small I caught up on paying bills and making phone calls
Watch TV, read magazines, play with them, go online, etc.
Maybe try taking small trips - we did a lot of drivethroughs - ATM, Dunkin' Donuts, McDonald's - just so I could get used to driving with them. Also to my parents for a few hours to break up the day.
Now that they're up more I find myself playing or snuggling with at least one all the time- I usually have time for one or two house chores and 2 loads of laundry. We are starting to get out more now. If you take baby steps - you'll find yourself really anxious to get out and just going for it! Good luck!

Why are you scared to drive? If you can get over the fear, it's worth it to get out of the house. Even if you take a stroll through the mall. It's good for you and baby to get out.

Don't be scared to drive! Get out of the house, go to a playgroup! Call a local church and ask if they know of any babygroups! Go to the mall, walk around with the baby in the stroller, sit down have a coffee and watch the world go by!!
Noah was born in January and I was out of that house in early February to go to Baby Massage! It saved my life and it was there that I met all my girlfriends and their babies!!!

Dd was born 11/29. I did a lot of errands, I would go to BRU sometimes every day just to get out of the house!

I agree! Although I know how you feel because I was scared to drive with DD the first few times I did it. It is the kind of thing that the more you do it, it does not bother you as much.

I took her to the mall, errands, etc. I still take dd for walks. I just bundle her up. It's good for both of us to get some fresh air and exercise.

Re: moms on maternity leave (or those that were on leave during the winter)
DS will be 9 weeks on Friday and today is the first time I took him out on my own and drove with him, and that's only because he had his doctors appointment and DH had to work. I was so nervous and scared, especially since I'm usually in the backseat with him while DH drives and this time I couldn't really see him!
I am definitely going completely out of my mind sitting on this couch and doing nothing though so once it warms up just a little, I'm going to take him to Starbucks, maybe the mall or other places that are very nearby until I get used to traveling alone with him.

Re: moms on maternity leave (or those that were on leave during the winter)
For now I am just BF DS all day long (he's only 2 wks old), he's insane.
Once he slows down we're going out. We've already been out to lunch with a friend once. I was SO scared (even brought a separate car in case I wanted to leave), but he did so well! Tomorrow it's off to my mom's house and if he's doing well, a stop at work for a meeting while DH walks him around for that time.
I feel tied down because of the BF, so I've been pumping a bottle here and there to give me some freedom. I went for a massage today while DH watched him .
ETA: Just get out there with a backup plan and flexibility to bail if you have to - a happy mommy makes a happy child!

Re: moms on maternity leave (or those that were on leave during the winter)
Totally go out and do things for yourself since DS is still too young to protest going shopping or running errands! Even if you just walk the mall, you will feel rejuvenated!
Oh and to answer your question, even though I work from home I am on maternity leave until next week but we go to playgroups and I feel like I'm always running around dropping Jack at school or grocery shopping or just walking the aisles of Target.

I bundle Josh up and go on walks. I am not afraid to drive with him, but I am afraid to BF in public with him, we haven't perfected out 2 man show yet. There is nothing sly or secretive about it. So I pump before I go anywhere, but I really have to bite the bullet and go for it one of these days.

Re: moms on maternity leave (or those that were on leave during the winter)
I gave birth last februaury. I was actually pretty lazy. I slept whiel she sleeept. I have an older child too so I needed my rest while he was at school. When it got nice enough I went for walks with her. I was only out 10 weeks so before I knew it I went back to work.

Driving around with Roman was the only thing that kept me sane! I would sometimes just sleep in the car in the mall parking lot.

I cleaned i went by myself- honestly try it, it isn't that bad. when it wasn't that cold out- we went outside. really- even if it's cold I think it is still good to bundle them up and go out for a walk- the sun makes vitamin D

I am out ALLLLL the time!! I try to be out and on eht move so I can be walking for exercise and I can't stand sitting around the house all day. I still have days that I sit home and do nothing, but I really enjoy being on the go.

Re: moms on maternity leave (or those that were on leave during the winter)
Before I got the car, I was walking every day, unless it was way too cold. Now, I haven't done much, but today I think I am going to go out and drive with him for the first time.
I'm nervous also, but I have to get out!

Re: moms on maternity leave (or those that were on leave during the winter)
Basically the same for me here as everyone else - I usually do an errand or 2 a day (Target, BRU, etc), just to get out of the house, and drive throughs are my new best friend. I LOVE Dairy Barn now, when I need milk & eggs lol.
I'm still not up to bringing DD to grocery store (she's 11 wks), but everywhere else has been good.
Plus she's a bad napper, and the car ride puts her to sleep, so I usually get a good nap out of her when we go out. I try to get some naptime in the morning, then drive out somewhere to get some afternoon time.
Hey, all you ladies at BRU, we should meet up lol!!!
