Moms who have their children on gfcf diet need advise
My son has been gluten free for a week and we took a leap and are doing casein free for 4 days now. The casein aspect makes the diet hard. My son was diagnosed with mild autism back in march. Wondering if there are others out there that had success with this diet for their child. Any tips?
Only downside has been my son waking twice in the middle od the night complaining of stomach pains. Not sure if this is because his body is adjusting. I've noticed he is eating more and not as bloated with more energy. Thanks for any help and advice.

i don't think i can be as much help as you might be looking for..are you looking for casein free food suggestions as well? my DS who is 21 months is on a cf diet b.c he is allergic to it. his symptoms are a horrifically runny nose/ear infections/sinusitis. goind dairy free was challenging but not as bad as i thought and totally worth it as he is 100% healthier than ever. the more i read about cow's milk the more i wonder about how good it really is for people. as for cf free foods i shope at Wild by Nature in huntington or Whole Foods. Trader Joes is pretty good too. For cheese we use Daiya brand-it is amazingly similar to cheese and works very well in omlets and grilled cheese etc. For yogurt-coconut milk based ones or Amande (made with almond milk) I use almond milk in all of his stuff. Earth's Best 'butter' spread and since you're doing gf a lot of snacks that are gf are dairy free too. not sure what could be causing his stomach pains but i'd suspect diet adjustment... i know that my sister's very good friend changed her son's diet in a similar way...he would drink milk CONSTANTLY etc.. he was diagnosed on the spectrum and there seemed something "off" about him as a very young child. now he is in 6th grade and he is amazingly different than the young baby/child that he was. her friend credits his diet and early intervention with his phenomenal improvement. good luck with everything!

My cousin is on a GF diet. He has Asbergers & this helps him TREMENDOUSLY to be GF. He has been GF for several years already and at 13 years old, he is finally doing so much better!
He actually told me today that he knows being GF "...helps me not be so anxious...." because he gets that his meds work better for him when he is GF! He impressed me with his understanding if it!!

My son is on GF/CF and it has helped so much...especially with his bowel movements. He was so constipated.
