Moms who live out of state...
Isn't it weird that your kids are going to grow up with different regional accents!
I find is so strange that Noah is going to wind up with a Mancunian accent!!!

Re: Moms who live out of state...
DH and I find it a little depressing, actually. I grew up in NY, and both my parents are NY natives... we're all proud of it, and all love NY and know it like the back of our hand, and yet, for my daughter, it will be something completely foreign to her. I like our neighborhood, but it's just weird to think my little girl is going to be a philly native

I think I will forever have issues that my kids were born in Ohio! I could have never predicted I'd be lving in Ohio. We love it here, but it is definately odd to my that my kids won't be NY'ers. We are just a different breed!

yes, that really bothered me when I was PG!! But I'll do my best to make sure he knows his roots regardless of the accent he picks up.

Re: Moms who live out of state...
When DD was born we lamented Uh, she's a New Englander and better not like the Red SOX or YANKEES! We are Mets/jets fans and NYorkers at heart forever!
DH and I still have some of our NY accents left, but not much. People in CT don't have accents and pronounce all their vowels and consonants.
When we go back to NY, the accents are sooo strong to us, we chuckle to ourselves, wow we used to sound like that too

Re: Moms who live out of state...
I guess I'm the oddball out on this one. It doesn't bother me at all. I've been gone from NY for over 8 years and it hardly feels like home anymore. None of my family is left there, only IL's and they will be moving here soon too. DH has been here for 11 years. Neither of us ever wish we were back in NY. I had always planned to leave, as young as a freshman in high school. I never thought I would live there forever. I think a lot of my accent is gone but DH's is pretty strong still.

No it doesn't bother me that DS is from the midwest and I am not. I have been living here for 4 years now, I guess I am used to the Missouri accent.

We go to ex-pat babygroup every week! Lourdes sounds kind of mid-atlantic, rocco sounds totally cockney, but David Banda...he can only speak babytalk!!!
