moms who put cereal in the bottle

I may have to start adding cereal because Emma might have reflux. I use the playtex drop ins and the stage 1 nipple. Would i go to the stage 2 nipple? I'd hate to start a new bottle brand because she has gotten used to the drop ins.

also did you find that adding the cereal worked?

Re: moms who put cereal in the bottle

My Ds had reflux problems and adding cereal helped keep the milk down.

if you put cereal in the bottle, you need a special nipple that they make just for that purpose - I dont think going up a stage is the same as getting the cereal nipple - I didnt use drop-ins so I don't know what they are called but for Dr Browns they are labeled "Y" nipples

I started cereal in the bottle around 10 weeks and it helped my son's reflux a LOT

I used cereal for her reflux and it helped a lot. I also used dr. browns but the y nipple was way too fas, so was the 2. We ended up poking a bigger hole in the stage 1.

I think it depends on how much cereal you are putting in. We added 1tsp per 2oz of milk. It really just made the milk a little thicker. We switched to Y-cut nipples (Dr. Browns), but in the Playtex Ventaires that we tried, she was able to use the stage 2. Personally, I was never comfortable trying to change the size of the hole in the nipples. I always ended up making them too big. I'm not sure if Playtex makes a Y-cut nipple or not, but that may be what you end up needing.
