Re: Moms who work FT and then take care of DC FT...

I want to spend as much time with DD as possible, so I don't clean or anything until she goes to bed. I usually stay up late just to have some time to unwind a little after everything is straightened up. I feel like we are always flying around but I guess that's what life is like when you have kidsChat Icon

I have a cleaning lady every other week so that helps. Other than that I do minimal straightening up during the week (mostly toys).

DH and I do laundry on Saturday/Sundays while we are doing other chores, events etc. I couldn't stand to do it every day and luckily we have enough clothes we don't have to.

DD goes to bed around 7:30 so after that I make/eat dinner and then we watch TV. Some nights I make dinner while she is eating etc. Some nights we eat PBJ's or something quick. I'd rather relax than eat a fancy meal.

I pay bills during lunch at work and I never really do work while I am home. I figure I give them my time when I am there and I get what I need to get done so I don't bother to do it at home. That's my time for me and my family.

I feel a lot of people are really getting sucked into a 24/7 working culture and I am trying my best to stay away from it. It's not a healthy way to live.

once DD is asleep (usually around 8:30) we watch something off the tivo'd list and have a beer/glass of wine. we do absolutely nothing for that hour. we split the house duties most of the time but i sometimes do more because my DH works more then i do. but once i get home from work im a FT mom and its nonstop until that hour. once that hour is up its back to mommy/daddy duties. without that hour we would die. plus it gives us some me and him time. which every couple needs.

Ha!!!!
it's so hard, but I really try to let DH do a lot of stuff, like the bills, and get DS settled......

I went to the gym 5x a week for the 2 weeks before I went back to work and DS was in daycare, and I haven't seen the inside of the gym since Chat Icon

I just got a treadmill which I would love to use, just can't see getting on it as often as I'd like.

I love to read, even if it's just a few pages. It definitely helps me unwind.

Doesn't your husband help? I work 50 hrs a week and then commute another 10hrs.. I am home by 630.....

I cook he cleans up.. we share laundry and cleaning and taking care of Sofia...

maybe we are use to busy lives I don't know but everything works out smooth....

Now that he's laid off, he is totally helping, but when he works, he is gone from 5 in the morning until 9 at night. He wakes up at 3:30, so I can't expect him to do errands. also, several nights a week he has his daughters so then he doesn't get home until later. Its tough!!!

maybe its me? I don't think you ever unwind anymore when you have kids.. especially ones under a specific age..

But if your home at night posting online, or watching tv once the baby is in bed that is unwind time sorta? I think?

Yes, I watch TV and post online, but I'm almost never exclusively doing that.

I'm watching TV while folding laundry, making calls, putting dishes away.

I'm posting on LIF while answering work emails, balancing my bank account, making photo albums.

There's very little time to just decompress.
