Moms with babies on Alimentum

How long was your DC on Alimentum? I see that its used for colic which usually ends at 3 months. Did your ped switch u off Alimentum to something else after the 3 months? I was reading about it and see alot of babies end up being switched off the Alimentum onto another formula. This is DD's 3rd formula and she's doing great on it. I don't want to switch formulas around so much so I'm wondering if anyone's DC stayed on this for a full year until switching to cow's milk. TIA!

I kept my DD on it until we switched to milk. We had no problems making the switch at that time.

My DD was only on alimentum for 2 weeks because it didn't work for her, but it was only approved for her for 6 months, then she would have to get re=evaluated at that time for another 6 months if she still needed it.

She's now on Neocate and she will be on that until 1 year old.

I'd ask my ped.

It's funny you posted this. Our daughter is 7 months and we are about to wean her off the Alimentum and put her on Nestle Good Start. We'll see how it goes.

Depends if the colic was caused by an allergy. If it's allergy related they suggest your DC stay on it until he/she is 1.

My DD has a milk allergy, she is 1 now so I'm planning on trying soy milk soon.

DS is 17 months and still on Alimentum. Because of his sensitivity to cow's milk protein, he still cannot digest cow's milk and can only tolerate Alimentum. His reflux is severe though. Hope this is not the case for you. It's expensive!
