How the heck are you getting your DC in the crib if you've lowered the mattress? I haven't had to yet, but it's still a challenge to get DD into the crib after she's fallen alseep on me. I can't imagine what it's going to be like putting her in there when I have to drop the mattress! Chat Icon I feel like I'm going to be dropping HER!

This is the exact reason why I didn't get one like that, even though I loved some of them. I'm short already and couldn't figure it out when I was shopping around!

Me too Chat Icon And now I think I'm regretting getting one!! Chat Icon I thought I was going to be OK with it because I was practicing when we bought it, but now... I'mnot so sure, especially when we drop the mattress! Chat Icon

DW and I are both around 5'6", and have never had a problem with either DC. We would rather stretch a bit to put DC down, then deal with the risk of having the side drop down unexpectedly (there have been recalls on cribs where this happens! Chat Icon ).

We've never dropped either DC, they've never woken up when we put them down.

Well, I'm sure with practice with Bella you'll be able to master it eventually! Maybe when you lower the crib try practicing putting her in when she's awake and not ready for a nap, in case the transition isn't smooth and you need more practice Chat Icon

Initially why I bought one that didn't drop. I had this fear bigtime.

Guess I'll have to "Go Go Gadget" my arms a bit Chat Icon Chat Icon

So far I haven't had any problems but you do bring up a good point.

I think that when we get to the point where my arms are too short - DH will have to take over Chat Icon

I am 5'3 and I do not have any issues. The mattress is fully dropped at this point. You just stretch!

I plan to use a step stool. Unfortunately DH didn't take mine or my mothers height into consideration when purchasing. Love her crib..but hate that part.

We have a crib with a drop-side but we never use it.

I'm between 5'5" and 5'6" and I just reach a little to set her down.

I have no problems reaching, but I am 5' 8". And if it gets to a point when it gets to be a problem DH can take over!Chat Icon

I'd personally rather stretch than have a crib with a drop side. I am paranoid since my friend's 11 month old shook theirs loose & broke itChat Icon
