moms with kids in school.. Bday party questions.
if your child is invited to a party (outside of a school, kid-place party) and you cant make it, do you still get the kid a gift ?
also-just curious, at what age do you start inviting friends from school ?.
I was going to start in nursery/preK, but figured lets wait till kindergarten, since we do have local kiddie friends now anyway and it would be too much (plus family)
and last but not least, do you do a separate party for school friends vs family just to keep it more simple?
also- whats the proper etiquette with who to invite from school? Ive heard of boys only and girls only, and then Ive heard that teachers say you either invite the whole class or none
shed some light here thanks!

Re: moms with kids in school.. Bday party questions.
well if i can't make it i dont give a gift and have never recieved one from a kid that couldn't make it to one of my boys parties.. i start inviting the kids in preschool..and i invite the whole class . nowadays for the older one i only invite the select few he is friends with..and then the neiborhood kids as well. we always do a separate family thing in the house because you can barely keep you head straight with all the kids from the class let alone enjoy the party!! you can invite as many or as little kids to the party as you want but if you are not planning to invite the whole class you have to mail the invites instead of handing them out in class..

Re: moms with kids in school.. Bday party questions.
thanks Kristi - ugh keeping up with this stuff
I also heard that, if you dont invite the whole class to mail it.
my sister had one for class friends for her daughter, and she made it "drop off at X time and pick up X time" so the moms left the kids there... I wonder if thats easier or harder, I guess it depends on the age. but some moms can be as bad as kids so it might be a great idea
and snice I didnt start the trend with JA, I feel like I have to start everything with the oldest (so I'll wait for Kindgtn), is that corny or do you do this too ? His party at school was more than enough for school friends.
