Moms with stairs or 2 story house...with 2 under 2 (or close)
Hi ladies...just wondering what to do w/Emma (my 2 week old) when I need to go upstairs throughout the day. Either I need to shower or give Charlie (17mos) a bath or just bring him up there to play. My shower/getting ready takes the longest, 45 mins or so. Do you think it is OK to leave her downstairs in the bouncy or swing and check on her periodically? I would hear her cry unless I'm in the shower or blowdrying..which takes 10mins each, tops.
I feel bad leaving her but to carry them both up and down all day is a lot of work! I guess I just feel guilty leaving her alone so I wanted to know what everyone else does!!
TIA!!

I don't have 2 but we bought a bouncy seat for every floor of our house (including the basement where DH works out).
We always had a place to put her down. If she prefers the swing, I would make the investment and buy another one.

I do have more than 1 bouncy for each floor but to carry them both up and down all day is the hard part!!!

I had a bouncy seat and the newborn to toddler rocker upstairs. I would carry her up and have him walk up the stairs in front of you!

If I need to go upstairs for something quick, like changing Madelyn(we use the PNP as a changer in the lowest level), then I leave Eliza in her swing or bouncy in the playroom (in the lowest level of our townhome).
If it's for something longer (like putting Madelyn or Eliza down for a nap, or feeding Madelyn lunch), I bring Eliza up first, put her somewhere safe (crib upstairs or travel swing on our main floor), then I get Madelyn. OR I let Mads walk up the stairs while I hold the baby.
Honestly, I truly believe it is because of going up 2 flights of stairs lugging a newborn and a toddler that I'm losing the baby weight so quickly!
BTW- they are 17 months apart and we live in a 3 level townhome.

Do you have the video monitor? Sometimes when Chase falls asleep downstairs in the swing, I just put the video monitor on him. But if he's not asleep, and I am going to be upstairs for longer than a few minutes (like if I have to run and get something) I bring both of them with me.

When I go upstairs with Andrew, Alexa comes too. I either put her in her crib, or the co sleeper or her Mush Lounger.
When I take a shower I put her in her crib and I have a gate across her door so Andrew or the dog can't get to her. And then Andrew just hangs out as usual.
It took a week or so to get things under control and get a routine but now it is second nature.

I used the PNP down stairs or the swing. When they got older and I needed to go upstairs, I would put the youngest in the PNP and the other one strapped in the highchair with their favorite show.

I have 3 floors and I use to shower when the older one was napping. Then I would either put DD in her crib or in the bouncy in my bedroom (we have a master bath). My2 are 15 months apart. When DD came home I also started having DS climb up the stairs himself. I stopped carrying him up the stairs. Coming down is easier. On the first floor I kept the P-N-P with an outfit, diapers and wipes for each. DD also took her naps in their.

I would shower before they woke up so after we went downstairs we were absically down there for the day. I also knew that this way I would get a shower in each day, and not have to try and find time later or when I wanted to get out the door.
