Re: Moms with toddlers who no longer nap....

DD stopped napping for a while after we moved her into a toddler bed.

But once we started putting her back into her room at about 1, 1:30 she started napping again.

Re: Moms with toddlers who no longer nap....

I teach 15 3 year olds and every single one of them have napped very consistently 99% of the time for the entire school year. Children will always want to play and be busy. I think the key is to stick to the routine and even if they say they're not tired make them lay in their bed for 1 hour. You can label it "rest time" inspead of nap. Meaning you don't have to sleep but you ahve to rest quietly.
I think you'll find most of them will eventually settle into the pattern of napping if you re consistent with this rule. Of course there is ALWAYS an exception here and there but I think you'll find if you let them not get away with it they'll know there's a time to rest during the day.

OMG, DS stopped napping for us at home when he was 2. Chat Icon He will be 3 in September and he does still nap at daycare, but will not nap for us at home unless we go somewhere in the car and he can fall asleep for the ride.

Lately we have been able to transfer him when we get home, but not all the time.

Kaydyn has missed her nap quite a few times recently. Sometimes she's fine and sometimes she goes in major meltdown mode, but will not fall asleep. I'd say she still naps 6 days a week. She is 2.5.

DD stopped right after we took her pacifiers away when she was 2.3 Chat Icon Now & then she will fall asleep on the couch and often in the car if we're out & about, but nothing consistent. We still do an informal rest time where she'll watch a show and have some downtime.

Rylan stopped napping around 1.5. He naps at home maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks. He does nap in the car on a regular basis though.

Re: Moms with toddlers who no longer nap....

It's funny, DD is 2 weeks from turning 3 and still needs a 2+ hour nap at home on the weekends (slightly shorter at MIL's during the week, but she does nap every day). I'm actually wondering how to wean her from naps b/c when she starts school FT in Fall, she *can* nap but I know she won't nap in the middle of all the kids playing....Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Moms with toddlers who no longer nap....

a little before 2.5, hes 2 years 9 mos now. It was gradual, some days he wouldnt, some he would.

Now the only time he naps is if he nods off in the car while we are out and I transport him inside to his bed.

Hes a BEAR by 7pm usually now, but we did move up him bedtime from 9:00 to 8:30.

DD stopped napping by the time she was 2. Chat Icon She would have still napped but then she would not go to sleep until 10:30-11! A 2 hour nap was not worth losing 2-3 hours at bedtime.
