Money left in savings after closing?
not including money that you specifically budgeted for major construction before you moved in. just the left over savings after your down payment and closing costs.
im starting to get a little nervous, thanks!

Not much, but enough to pay our bills and first mortgage payment. We are almost done with home improvements and can start saving again.

we had enough to buy furniture and make some minor repairs. there is a lot i would still like to do but i guess i will wait for tax refund time!

we put less money down in order to have more in the bank at closing. It was for my mental sanity.

We had towards the higher end, but we also purchase a condo--so it was much less expensive.
When we eventually purchase a home, I'd like to have about a year of mortgage payments saved up.

we did the same thing we put the minimum 3.5% down which was good - we had alot of money left in savings which was great because there are so many unexpected things we've had to pay for...

we had alot left over BUT that was because we had a lot of equity in our first home, we put down much less than we could have on our new home as we knew we needed to do a lot to get it where we wanted and we bought a short sale that was a great price.
