More on hate crimes (against a white person)
I know a lot of the debate last week over hate crimes had to do with not hearing about violence against white people being charged as a hate crime..well here's a very recent example
NYT article
WHITE PLAINS, June 12 — The petite blond woman was found lying in a pool of blood in broad daylight near a popular mall. A homeless black man with a history of violent rapes was quickly arrested a block away, shirtless and soaked in blood. He later told the police that he had hidden in a stairwell with a knife for hours that day, waiting to kill a white person .
On Monday, nearly a year later, the man, Phillip Grant, 44, went on trial in State Supreme Court here, accused of murder as a hate crime. The killing not only shocked people for its brutality and randomness, but also cast Westchester County's handling of its homeless in an unforgiving light.
... "All I knew was she had blond hair and blue eyes and she had to die," Mr. Grant tells his interrogators on the tape. "If I'd have had a gun today, there'd be a lot of dead white people on the streets of White Plains." ... Mr. Grant was one of several Level 3 sex offenders — considered the most dangerous — who had been allowed to sleep at a drop-in center at the county airport in Valhalla. Every morning at 6 they were put on a bus and transported to downtown White Plains, where they were left to wander the city.
Many, like Mr. Grant, congregated near the steps of the parking garage connected to the mall where Ms. Russo-Carriero was killed.
But after the slaying, the county came under such fierce criticism from local officials that it ended the busing practice, shut down the airport drop-in center and hired trained monitors to "shadow" the dozen most dangerous sex offenders staying in its shelters. The killing also prompted local officials and state legislators to renew calls for a civil confinement law, a measure that would keep violent sexual predators locked in institutions even after their time in prison was served. Ms. Russo-Carriero's family eventually filed a lawsuit against the county and White Plains, accusing them of negligence. The suit is pending. Her husband and two sons sat quietly in court on Monday, accompanied by their lawyer. They wept occasionally as the prosecutor described witness accounts of the victim's screams echoing throughout the garage.
"She was a vibrant woman, a decent woman, and her life was snuffed out of her," Mr. Ward said. "And you ask yourself why? The reason is plain and simple hatred."
(Bold mine)

so you are saying that hate crimes happen against all race and gender correct?
Yes.
And that hate crime legislation does not only come into play in crimes against minorities.
A big argument against hate crime legislation is that it singles out white people as the perpetrators, and is hterefore unfair. And people were saying white people get hurt and killed all the time and you never hear "hate crime", but here is an example of hate crime legislation beinging justice in a crime toward a white person, like the muncchi case bringing justive on crime toward a black person.

I hate crime is a crime against a race or gender so to say it doesnt exist for white people is wrong. I guess it is just classified differently. Which is not fair.
Well this is proof that hate crimes can be against anyone.
