More sweater dress questions
Do you think they are appropriate for work in an office in a financial firm? I'm not on the executive floor but I deal with them. Suits I know are the norm but I think a really nice sweater dress with the right shoes and accessories can look very professional.
Also, what do you wear under them? I'm definitely curvy and might want to consider some spanx under it to keep a smooth line. I love the spanx tights that go all the way up.

I've been wondering the same thing. I really want to wear one to work, but not sure if it's appropriate. I'm a supervisor at a bank.

Re: More sweater dress questions
see, you are in the public eye. That's another twist on this.
I don't know. Still thinking about it.
Maybe the other ladies can help us out.

Re: More sweater dress questions
I think that would be a great work outfit, even in a conservative firm. like you said, with the right shoes and accessories, it would look very dressy.
I always think of dresses no matter how plain, look professional if worn with the right things.

Re: More sweater dress questions
IMO - I find there is not really a huge diff between a sheath dress (totally appropriate) and a sheath-style sweater dress.
I think it's fine.

Re: More sweater dress questions
I don't know about appropriateness, since I work in a more casual office, but I wear Spanx Higher Power under mine. I find knit sto be a little clingy.
Last time I actually pulled them on over my tights, as a last minute decision-- I should probably get the Spanx tights

Re: More sweater dress questions
Unfortunately, I think a sweater dress is too casual for a conservative office setting. Sucks

Re: More sweater dress questions
I work in an industry where I am expected to wear suits and I would not wear a sweater dress instead.

Re: More sweater dress questions
now here's the thing. I don't wear suits that much now. I wear pants, and a top or a sweater set. I always look pressed and polished and that is fine but I just don't know how a sweater dress would look. I've seen some other women wear them but they are skinny and wear heels.
We are not required to wear suits or skirts but I don't want to look too trendy either.

I dress similar to you at work. Some days I will wear a suit and other days dress pants and a sweater. I have worn sweater dresses a few times. As long as it's not super short it is fine. Wearing it with leggings made me feel comfortable if it was shorter than my usual skirts.
I would recommend wearing a slip between the dress and the spanx/leggings it prevented the dress from being clingy and it hung better.

Re: More sweater dress questions
I work for an accounting firm and saw one of the leaders wearing a sweater dress today and it looked really nice.

Re: More sweater dress questions
I guess the right sweater dress would be fine.
Now I need to find ones that aren't too short. Could I wear tights and boots or should I stick to heels?

Re: More sweater dress questions
I think a sweater dress just lacks structure, and then more of your "womanliness" will show... and THAT might make it less appropriate for a work environment... something that might be concealed in a sheath will probably be very visible in a knit. I definitely cannot see putting a knit over my lumpy a&& unless I'm going to the gym... Its just not pretty.

I've seen you dressed for work and I think a sweater dress would be fine - I would just stay away from the more casual ones!

thanks. Yeah, not too formal although many here do wear suits. But the same amount wear pants and tops or skirts and tops.
Maybe I should go try some on. The lumpiness factor definitely plays into it here.
