Re: More tipping questions

I guess that's why I'm confused. The hair stylist spends more time with me than the colorist. Although they are both excellent they represent different costs. I'm paying for product with the colorist and I'm paying for a service only with the hair stylist.

The shampoo person washes me not once but twice and applies the gloss and then washes me again and conditions and then gives me a scalp massage! I think I should tip her $10 too!

I still think I'm being cheap about it but it really adds up.

I worked on tips for so long that I now tend to overtip but generally I make sure to give 20% which would be about...

The colorist - $18
The hair stylist - $10-$15 - I have curly hair and would probably give more because my blow out is not so easy
the shampoo person - $5

Re: More tipping questions

The same person cuts and colors my hair.
Shampooer - $5
Color/Cut/Blow $20

ETA: I only pay about $45 for my cut, dye, & blow.

hmmm... if the shampoo girl does as much as you said, and the stylist spends more time than the colorist maybe i would do, 15 each for the colorist and the stylist and 10 for the shampoo girl. i don't know.
i give my haircut/stylist girl $10 (haircut is 45 and she spends a total of half an hour with me, she's quick)
$5 to the shampoo girl
and $25 to the colorist but she spends like 2 hours with me and does everything herself.
sometimes i'll give the haircut girl 15 if i'm feeling extra generous and she does an extra good job.
i don't know, i am faithful to these girls and i know they rely on tips so i'm always worried about being too cheapChat Icon

Re: More tipping questions

I get a single process color and a gloss which takes no time. My hair stylist spends more time.

When I got highlights that was different, then the colorist spent more time.

I have been going there for 3 years and love them, I just don't want to cheap out.

It's like a matching color glaze that's put on after the color has set for shine and conditioning. I sit with it for 5 minutes after I get washed. That's why the shampoo person does a lot. Then she has to wash that out and condition after.

this makes sense - I get highlights and lowlights which is a pain and usually takes a long time
