Morning sickness and medication
This is my first post, but I always read all the awesome threads on here. I am a little over 10 wks pregnant and struggling with severe morning sickness. At 6 weeks my doctor put me on Zofran, and while that didn’t stop the vomiting, it did help a lot w/the nausea in between. At 8 weeks she switched me to Reglan because I was dehydrated and losing too much weight. The Reglan helps a little w/the vomiting but I am constantly nauseous on it. I didn’t want to take anything but I cannot function. I am nauseous all day and all night, with little to no relief and I get sick 2-3 times a day. Eating and drinking and sleeping are torturous for me. I have called out sick to work so many times and when I am home I cannot get off the couch. Everyone says it should get better in a few weeks, but that is not helping me get through the days now!
Yesterday I went back to the doctor and she suggested I take both pills together. I do not want to do this, but I am tempted just to get some relief.
Do any of you have experience w/either or both of these drugs?
Any general advice on how to get through each day being so sick?
I have tried ALL of the home remedies and nothing gives me relief.

Re: Morning sickness and medication
Sorry you feel so sick...
I went to the ER on News Years Day cause I was sooo nauseas and threw up 7 times. The doc had me on a drip of Reglan and WOW what a difference it made.
I felt so much better at the hospital ...but the next day when I went home I wasnt on anything and the nausea came back... I always feel like im on EDGE of throwing up... its awful!!
Maybe the doctor could prescribe you something different... keep trying until you find one that works for you!!!

Thanks for responding! Are you taking the Reglan at all now? I find it does nothing for my nausea :( The Zofran was much better at controlling that...

Re: Morning sickness and medication
When I was pregnant with DS, the nausea and heartburn were horrible. NOTHING helped except acupuncture. I swear that within 2 days of it being done both went away. I felt like a new woman.
I have bad nausea again this pregnancy (although not as bad as the first). I am considering doing acupuncture again, since nothing is giving me relief.
Feel better!

Re: Morning sickness and medication
I thought my morning sickness is bad! wow I feel for you! right now I am controlling my morning sickness with extra vitamin B6 and unisom, which my doctor told me is safe to take during pg... it does help sometimes with the all day nausea but I still throw up most days... she told me that I can take up to 4 unisom pills per day but I am so anal about taking pills I have been taking half in the morning and half in the evening which leaves me feeling sick a lot... so I understand you worrying about taking all this medicine while pregnant... I hope u feel better soon, I hope all of us do!

Re: Morning sickness and medication
I was sick all day from 7 weeks till 19 weeks. I was in the hospital 2 different times admitted over night for IV hydration. I was on 4 mg of zofran at first and it did not do anything. I then went on IV fluid at home (through a home health care nurse) and Reglan pump. I still took my zofran 3-4 times a day plus they uped that to 8 mg. I did not have a choice really I was sick 23 hours a day. I am so glad that I did all this. The baby and myself are healthy now and I have no regrets. My dr was very worried at one point because of the amount of weight that I had lost and I was not able to keep anything in. It all helped me to be able to eat very small amounts throughout the day and stabilze my weight loss.
