Morning sickness vs. stomach virus

How can you tell?

Here's the deal. I am 10 weeks and have not had any morning sickness. I have noticed that in the past few day I get a little queazy if I get hungry. But, I eat... and I'm fine.. No biggie.

I work in a school and one of my kids, with whom I work closely with(kiddo gets a lot of speech) has a stomach virus and has been throwing up for days. Today around 10 I started to get nascious when I was drinking water. So I went to my office and had some saltines and sips of ginger ale.. I only had the crackers because I had cheese and crackers with my lunch (like I said I have not had any need for them at all).

Well next thing I know I am violently ill. I must have thrown up in 4 different bathrooms. Major stomach cramping with it. I thought I would even get the runs.. but, I never did.

I looked awful, I guess, and the VP sent me home. He said I was so pale that he didn't want me drivingChat Icon

So I get home and the cramping continues.. as does more dry heaving. I finally fell asleep and now about 5 hours later I can eat a little and drink stale ginger ale. ....

My question.. Does this sound too severe to be MS? Should I consider this a stomach virus and stay home tomorrow so that I don't infect anyone? Or should I just chalk it up to pregnancy and not waste sick days?

Unfortunately it doesn't sound to severe to be MS.... That is how I was, and worse for weeks 9-18 Chat Icon

That being said though, considering you have been exposed to the stomach virus I wouldn't say if tis the stomach virus or MS yet.

Try and stay as hydrated as you can....drink water and an electrolyte drink like gatorade to keep fluids in and see how you are in teh next 48-72 hours.

If you notice you aren't peeing very much are really likght headed, lethargic and dizzy call your practitioner!

Feel better! HOpefully its just a nasty bug!

That sounds like the stomach virus. I had it when I was pregnant with DS.
It wasn't fun.
My Dr. told me to keep hydrated (I wasn't even keeping water down). I called the dr. because I was about 8 or 9 weeks pregnant and thought it had to do with the pregnancy. I couldn't even get out of bed.

Like I posted, keep hydrated.

What worked for me (2 days later) was dry cereal. It actually tasted good.

I hope you feel better soon.Chat Icon Chat Icon
