mosquito bites
has anyone gotten any lately? when i play vball on the beach at night, they are in full force. and this year, the bites are HUGE!
it freaks me out a bit. anyone gotten bit lately and have the same reaction? i think im going to take some benadryl.

Yes! I live right by the water, so of course we are swarmed whenever we go outside. Some bites are bigger than others.
I hate mosquitos!!!!

oy! i feel for you!!
the bites are big and red! eeww!!! actually, what i am realizing is that i think i was bit a few times in the same spot, so those spots just look like huge single bites. if i only remembered my "off" that night!

Dani, I had a HUGE bite on my leg recently. I was actually very concerned and while I was at the doctor (for a separate issue) I had him look at it. He asked me if I had gone upstate to get a bite like that (whatever that means). It has been a few weeks and the bite has almost completely gone away. Are you an allergic person? My doctor said that sometimes people who are allergic are more susceptible to those type bites. I do notice that bites tend to be much bigger nowadays;that could be a contributing factor as well.

You should try Cactus Juice. I went to a party last month and someone brought it with them. It was great! She has a house on Fire Island and swears by the stuff. She said it is a Fire Island secret. I have to say the stuff worked great and even smelled good. I believe it is all natural too.

Be sure to take care of it right away and not let it get infected. That happend to DH, and he developed cellulitis, which is a nasy deep-tissue infection. He literally couldn't stand, that's how bad the pain was. He ended up taking steroids to bring down his infection numbers.

I think the size of the bump also depends on where the bite is. If I get one on my thigh, they get huge but not on my arms.  Maybe it gets into the muscle more or something.

i AM an allergic person. i actually took an antihistamine, and they seem to have gone down a bit. or maybe im just hoping they did.

Yep I was covered! I started using bug spray the last couple of weeks and it really helps.

I am severly allergic to mosquitos.
When I go to BBQ's or anywhere outdoors, I have to wear long pants, socks, and long shirts.
I find the best spray is OFF, Deep Woods.
When I get bit, they swell up HUGE! and then they eventually turn into black & blue's.
I find that, as soon as I get bit, I put witch hazel on, and they are gone in a few hours or by the next day.
The witch hazel is a godsend! It takes away the itch, and the swelling!

I look like I have a disease, I have so many bites.
Skin so soft and Off do nothing for me, neith does sitting on top of a Citronella candle.

I have bcome SEVERELY allergic to them as I get older....they blow up into welts and they HURT!!!

I've always had a big reaction to mosquito bites for some reason. When I get bites, I'm left with huge welts that hurt.
ETA: That's so funny Shana. I hadn't even read your response and we said pretty much the same thing. At least I'm not the only one that gets them

What purpose do they serve? Do they cross polinate something that I dont know about that gives meaning to their existance???

Got a TON in Mexico because we'd be out at night - in the restaurants, at the bars, etc. We brought bug spray with us but it would seem like the mosquitos would get you in the exact spots that you missed!!
