What would you say is the most romantic restaurant in the city and why?

I would have to say none....I don't find any restaurant romantic when you have strangers around you that you can hear and have a waiter who is very attentive and comes over all the time. Maybe I just havent found the perfect place yet.

I have three of them.

Savoy - It has a country feel to it and it is so warmly lit. The food id impeccable.

River Cafe - Perfect waterfront view and the food is delicious.

Daniel - I love the french cuisine and decor which is more Italian.

There are places I've been in the city that I find so romantic, and unfortunately I can't recall any names. The reason is because sometimes, after a nice night out, we just stumble into them late night and enjoy a beautiful meal. There's one in particular I'd like to try again and I don't know the name. LOL.

The most romantic restaurant in NYC that I have been to is Philip Marie. We went the night after we got engaged. DH was going to propose there but he knew I would know as soon as we walked in so he proposed at home in my pjs and then took me to the most amazing dinner of my life!!!
The regular restaurant is fine but they have a private wine cellar down stairs where you get a private waiter and you have an open menu (can order anything you want). The chef comes out to help you decide and he also matches a glass of wine with each course. YOu are in a room that looks like a wine cellar and there is soft music playing. It is totally private. The food and ambience was amazing! We told several of our friends about and they went for thier 1 year anniversaries. Totally recommend it!

River Cafe, but it can get a bit loud.

I Love Mezzo Giorno on Spring Street in the village, it feels like yo';re in Italy, also Le Madri, but you need to get a corner table.

I have heard nothing but wonderful things about One if By Land and have to admit, when we went there for drinks it was so quiet, private and beautiful. I've always said I want to go there for a romantic dinner.

Probably La Grenouille, because of all of the beautiful tulips, the accent, the poshness, getting all dressed up-just feels so romantic.

One if By Land was great to but not as fancy (not the type of place that you put on a cocktail dress for) Still lovely though.

the most romantic spot in the city I have been to was Park Avalon..very dimly lit and awesome food..but sadly it is called something else now, I forget what and we havent been there, but it was a great place...

DH took me to Acapella for our first date an I loved it. It is a small little place with lots of candles and dark colors. The waitstaff was great. I think it is on Hudson St.
