Mount Airy Lodge, PA
Has anyone been to the NEW Mount Airy Lodge in the Poconos. They've updated it and added a casino. My mom and dad honeymooned in the Poconos way back when. Dad just retired and she thought it would be fun to go back there. Dad loves the casinos, but they've done AC a bunch of times.
Thoughts????

"All you have to bring is your love of everything beautiful Mount Airy Lodge!'
Sorry I couldn't resist. I haven't been, so I don't know how it is. I was looking at it a few months ago for a short getaway. They still have the champagne hot tubs.
everything else looked ok

They built a new one? I remember the pics of when they Demo'd the old resort.
Is it on the same spot as the old one?

Re: Mount Airy Lodge, PA
DH and I have been there. It is primarily a casino now. thet no longer offer those "couples type activities" that made the resort so famous. Also, the casino only has slots, no tables.....
If they wanted a similar experience to their HM.....There is a resort nearby called Caesars Pocono Palace....Here are some pics of our room when DH and I went......
pics to large...sorry

Re: Mount Airy Lodge, PA
We used to go there every summer when I was a kid. We loved it, and I went to the Poconos in 2001 w/ my ex boyfriend and it was all boarded up. Now that it is reopen, AND a casino my mother is psyched and dying to go.

Re: Mount Airy Lodge, PA
We go a lot because we have a house up there.
The Casino is a good time if you like the computer versions and slots. They have a buffet and other restaurants. If they are used to the normal table games, they would be disappointed (DH plays the video versions and won! But its not like AC or LV).
The Poconos has a lot to do - so there is a tanger outlet, there is the yankee minor league team in Scranton (like 30-40 mins away), there are nice restaurants in the towns, Bushkill Farms, etc. So it would be nice to go and then explore a little.
It's definitely relaxing, not as crazed -- but traffic up there is getting nutty.
