Mounting a TV on brick over a fireplace, any advice?
So, in our den we have a fireplace and the brick goes all the way to the ceiling. My friends have TV's mounted over their FP's and the heat is not an issue. But I am wondering how to hide the wires? And do I put the bolts into the brick or mortar? Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

You can probably wrap the wires behind the TV mine is mounted on the wall and that is what we did. and we use an "eye" to control the cable box that we have in the basement

How to mount a tv to brick fireplace.
Thanks, I did read this article, (very informative). I was hoping for some "real world" experience, especially with the wires.

my friends who had this had the wires tied tightly together but under the tv and then had a strip or basically like a wrap put around the wires and then wrapped it around the fireplace mantle (tightly) to the side where there cable box, etc was. The only time you noticed the wires is when you looked at the side of the fireplace.
Also for the wires hanging on the bottom of the tv they put a floral dec under the tv to hide them.
if you do not have a mantle then i am not sure.

Please keep in mind, you need an outlet at the screen area. You can't run power though a wall.

be aware you void all warranties on your tv if you mount it over a fireplace, gas included. How they will know, I don't know, but I do know that it states this in almost all booklets that come with the tv where it lists the warranty of the tv

If you ever need service just pull the TV down from the wall and re-attach it to the stand and put it somewhere in the house.
They will need it off the wall anyways to do work on it (open it up and such).
