Moving Furniture

Hi ladies,

I have a rather large couch in storage that I would like moved into our house. What do you think would be our best bet? Should we rent a U-Haul truck and just move it ourselves with family or friends? Or are there companies we could hire that would help us out and do it themselves? It is only one piece of furniture so I would think a standard moving company would be a waste... And the storage place is only 5 minutes from our house. Any suggestions?

TIA.

Does it come apart?

I would price out and measure a van from U-Haul and Home Depot. You may be able to get it into one of those. Should be cheaper. I would definitely get the help from family or friends for only 1 item.

Re: Moving Furniture

if you have help then just move it yourself.

Re: Moving Furniture

I agree with just moving it yourself. Recruit a few friends and just order them a pizza and beer.

Maybe someone even has a truck it would fit in.

Well yeah I agree that a moving company would be a waste - they prob wouldn't even do it. I was wondering if there was some sort of "jack of all trades" who could help out. Prob not though.

Check Craigslist under Services -->Labor Moving. You will find Man with Van for hire.
Just don't know what you'll get going that route. So be careful.

That's an excellent idea. The only risk is bringing a random into my house without any referrals, etc. but definitely worth looking into. I didn't think to check out Craigslist!! Thanks!
