WWYD? moving/ furniture related
I purchased a house and was told all the furniture is negotiable. I was interested in a coffee table, the matching side table and a desk. They said yes to the cofee table but not the matching side table or unmatching desk. It wasn't as if i didn't meet their price I said how much and they said no. The side table is small and unimpressive but i liked it and it matched the table. i dont understand what they would do with a tiny table.
I am moving pretty far away and was not there for the walk through. When my Realtor did the walk through for me ( along with a family member) they told me they left the side table for me. This was the only thing left in the house except the coffee table which i had purchased. I was thrilled! my Realtors said it was a housewarming gift to us from the former owners!
well now the former owner calls and says they didn't mean to leave it. Can they have it back.
some background-- the former owners have 4 homes and SIGNIFICANT funds, we asked to move the closing back 2 days since we are out of state and had some issues with our closing here in NY and they said NO and if they said even if they said yes they would charge us their expenses for those two days.
Thoughts?

These people sound kind of annoying. If it was me, I'd probably just tell them to come and get it just to be done with them.
