Moving washer and dryer to main level?

Is this a crazy idea? DH seems to think so. I would like to have the washer and dryer on the main floor. We live in a colonial so all our clothes and linens have to go from the upstairs aaaallllllllll they way down to the basement to be washed. It's hard to keep up with having a baby now.

I think it's a great idea my sil has an extra room on the first floor and they made the the laundry room so much easier
If its not a separate room just be mindful of only bringing clothes you are going to wash otherwise you will have a pileup of dirty clothes for everyone to see

Moving washer and dryer to main level?

I have my washer and dryer on the first floor and I love it. I also have a colonial and cannot image having to carry everything from the second floor to the basement and back upstairs.

Ours is on the main floor, and I love it. My kids play in the den, and I can keep an eye on them as I fold laundry.

Re: Moving washer and dryer to main level?

Right now our laundry is in the basement and going from there to the 2nd floor where the bedrooms are can be torture. My DH asked if we should move it to the main floor but I feel like I'd still have to go up and down 1 flight.

I think, if it's possible, to move it to the floor where the bedrooms are. That's where most of your laundry comes from and goes to. That's going to be the move for us eventually. Either in my bathroom that has a large linen closet for stackables or in our walk in

Moving washer and dryer to main level?

Mine are in my kitchen. While I hate the fact they are in there it actually saves time cause its easy to throw in a load

We actually moved ours to 2nd level and I love it. If this wasn't an option, we would've put it on the main level.

So much easier.

Re: Moving washer and dryer to main level?

We just renovated our house and moved the w/d to the first floor. It was in the basement. We discussed moving it to the 2nd floor but I spend most of the day on the 1st floor and it is really the easiest place for me to get laundry done. I don't have to go upstairs during the day to do it, switch it, etc. I still have to carry it up and down but it is really not a big deal only doing the one flight.

For us, the move to where we are most of the time makes it easiest b/c I actually get it done faster and more efficiently. Does that make sense?
