Can someone tell me about these towns? Where do you shop? Schools? How are the neighborhoods, etc? FMs welcome as well.

Re: Mt. Sinai, Miller Place questions
I live in the neighboring town of Rocky Point and my husband grew up and lived in Miller Place his entire life - well until we moved in together!
Anyhoo, to answer your questions...
Schools are excellent. Both MP & MS are small schools. My nephews and nieces are attending MPSD, they participate in the sports programs, honor society, etc. It appears to me (and I'm pretty darn close to them) that they are enjoying (and for those who already graduated enjoyed) their time there and growing up and living there.
Shopping wise there's a huge Stop N Shop in MP along with an abundance of nail salons, hair salons, fast food joints and restaurants. Along with other small shops. Plus there's Cedar Beach (which for this south shore chick will never compare to Robert Moses or Long Beach but it does the trick in a pinch!!).
Additionally, the neighborhood is safe. I've never felt uncomfortable anywhere in MP or MS for that matter though I have less experience with MS.
I like that they're both small towns and have that small town feel. There's a big St. Paddy's day parade that SO many people go to, it's like a giant reunion and I think that's nice. To this day, after 30+ years, my DH is STILL friends with people from MP and sees them on a regular basis.
I would highly recommend both areas.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to FM me!

I would reccomend these areas as well. However, please be aware, the traffic on 347 in order to get there is often torturous. But I guess...you could say that for most of LI!

Plus, once you know the "back" ways to places you're good to go.
