MTV Looking for Infertility Candidates for their Documentary Series – True Life: "I'm Having Infertility Issues"
I got this email from circle + bloom...I thought I would post to see if anyone on here would be interested???
We wanted to let you know about an amazing opportunity that has come up to get the word out about infertility as well as Circle + Bloom. MTV is working on a new upcoming episode in their True Life documentary series titled True Life: I'm Having Infertility Issues. How great is it that MTV is getting involved to help people understand infertility. In order to make this as powerful as possible they need your story!
MTV is currently looking for candidates to share their story who are:
– CURRENTLY STRUGGLING with Infertility and doing SOMETHING to address the issue
– REAL STORIES
– they can be anywhere in the US
– male or female
– be 18-29
Below is the information you need to get in touch and share your story. Of course, we would love if someone who is using Circle + Bloom could include how they are using our programs as part of their fertility journey.
SHOW INFORMATION AWARD WINNING MTV DOCUMENTARY SERIES - TRUE LIFE: I'M HAVING FERTILITY ISSUES Have you always wanted to have a baby and are finding out that getting pregnant isn't as easy as it seems? Have you been trying for months -- or even years -- to get pregnant without success? Have you or your partner been diagnosed with a condition that makes it difficult to conceive naturally and plan to seek help from a fertility clinic? Are you so consumed with having a baby that you'll stop at nothing to have your own? If so, is your partner right there with you? Or is he or she reluctant to spend the money and energy it would take to conceive through high tech means? Are your fertility issues causing problems with your relationship? Has trying to have a baby left you emotionally, physically, and financially drained? Do you have a pre-existing health condition where being pregnant could be dangerous for you and your baby, but you're determined to beat the odds?
If you appear to be the ages of 18-29 and you're CURRENTLY struggling with fertility issues, please email us: [email protected]
Please include your name, story, location, PHONE NUMBER, and photograph if possible. Please remember to include your PHONE NUMBER.

MTV Looking for Infertility Candidates for their Documentary Series – True Life:
I think it is awesome that MTV is doing this. I wish more people were aware of what it is like to have to undergo IF procedures, especially things like IVF, using donors and surrogates...
Never in a million years would my DH go for this. I am 30, but I am pretty sure I "appear" to be 29.

This is a GREAT idea, however, isn't 18 a bit young? In this day and age so many people are having babies later and I think the cut-off at age 29 eliminates so many people from participating.

I agree. I understand this is MTV and they cater to a younger crowd but I don't think they'll find too many 18yrs struggling with getting pregnant Too bad they didn't consider raising the age cutoff for this topic.

If you really want to apply don't let age stop you. They will take any good story into consideration. All they care about is the story.
And Penny, it is all in the editing, even if all you do is wait they can make it seem more exciting.

MTV Looking for Infertility Candidates for their Documentary Series – True Life:
I think its great MTV is doing a documentary on infertility issues. I feel like its such a lonely journey sometimes and the media rarely addresses it (except to bring to light the pope not supporting IVF, etc).

Ok ok .. I'm taking the plunge
If I get chosen somehow.. you'll all recognize me as the wacko using a surrogate and fell into the 2% category more times than she could count!!
ETA: ... and here I always thought I'd be picked for "True Life: I'm a crazy cat lady"

This is just wrong..
Lifetme or TLC should pursue this looking at the mid 30-mid 40 woman...real stories from real women

I'm 27. I think there shouldn't be an age range. If you're on this journey, you're on it ... and it stinks. I don't care HOW OLD you are.

you never know, if tis gets really popular, i wouldn't be surprised at all if other networks created their own version of this show. I agree the cut off is tooyoung as most women don't experience infertility issued when they are 18, KWIM?

At least someone is talking about it. I think so many twenty-somethings have PCOS today and it's more common, so it may provide insight to those women. you never know- TLC could always copy it like they did with Hoarders/Hoarding from A&E

I think it's good to bring awareness that it's a "younger" disease as well. So many people think infertility = older women ... I started my journey at 24. (or if you want to get technical ... 13. Which is when I was diagnosed with PCOS)

Re: MTV Looking for Infertility Candidates for their Documentary Series – True Life: "I'm Having Infertility Issues"
I'm glad MTV is shedding light on this struggle that I'm sure many couples are going through. I was diagnosed with pcos at 19, and if I wanted to try back then I know I would still go through the same things I'm going through right now at 25.

Sorry I am crashing. But I need to say this... Please bring light to the ability to use a surrogate ... I got into a small arguement the other day with my husbands aunt about how she thinks it is wrong that guliana and bill used someone else to have their kid etc.... I went on a five min rant about how many people are dealing with infertility issues and what they go through ... Granted it shut her up but more people need to be educated and we can't glamorize teenagers and pregnancy any more .... Sorry for the crash needed to get it out though

Well thanks for defending surrogacy! I think unfortunately there will always be people out there who disagree with this stuff.. IVF.. or medical intervention at all. I think there's also a huge misconception that surrogacy is easy. Admittedly, I thought that too! I thought all it would take is finding someone and it would be smooth sailing. It's actually not like that at all though, and besides the obvious worry that I still have from sono to sono, the process is just so complex. Emotionally, it took a long time to grieve the idea that I would not be pregnant. I'm doing my best to stay involved in the process and thankfully my surrogate keeps me VERY involved with frequent updates- and she's not even pregnant yet. Still, it's very hard to relinquish control and wait for updates via text/phone call rather than be the one to experience it. I think there's a lot involved that people don't realize, or don't understand. This process also makes me very bitter against NYS for not legalizing surrogacy. Apparently, your husband's aunt is not alone in her thoughts!
I doubt I'll be chosen amongst all the amazing, inspiring contenders out there, but I hope if I AM chosen, I could shed some light on what this process is like....... a process I never would have chosen even one year ago, but so grateful for at the moment!

Re: MTV Looking for Infertility Candidates for their Documentary Series – True Life: "I'm Having Infertility Issues"
Ehh I don't mind the exposure or media attention to Infertility. I was in my 20's when we began ttc and first diagnosed with infertility. So, it's not an age thing that bothers me but maybe the MTV thing Idk. I guess we'll wait and see!

Re: MTV Looking for Infertility Candidates for their Documentary Series – True Life: "I'm Having Infertility Issues"
I am waaaaaayyyy to old for this but I agree...is MTV audience really going to be interested in IF issues? I can't see them selling this to the network? Is this already an approved MTV production or is it a group of people who are trying to get it together to approach MTV with. I mean Jersey Shore...IF issues....um....not the same audience.
My Dh and I got approached a couple of years ago by someone wanting to do a reality show on Bravo with our type of business and further discussion it was revealed that "no, its actually not pitched yet...but...". No thanks. Honestly I had seen a scene in my mind of me yelling at DH and then it being all over the show and me looking like the biggest beyotch...LOL...
I think TLC or Bravo or even Lifetime would be a better audience. But, i think it would be a good show.

Re: MTV Looking for Infertility Candidates for their Documentary Series – True Life: "I'm Having Infertility Issues"
This is an AWESOME idea, the more media attention IF gets, the better - all around.
Not only is surrogacy misunderstood, so is IF in general, including IVF. I have had some really stupid comments.
"So they are still "your children, right"
" Awe petry dish babies"
"how did you get a priest to baptize themmm??" and prob the most hurtful of them all
"you know the church doesn't recognize them, right?"
Jackie, it doesn't matter if you get it (although i hope you do!) you have ALREADY inspired hundreds, right here.

Re: MTV Looking for Infertility Candidates for their Documentary Series – True Life: "I'm Having Infertility Issues"
I think its a great idea that someone wants to do a show about IF, i really really do
However i just don't think MTV is the venue for it. Are they not going to take your story unless IF is causing some problems in your marriage? Or if you're not the right type of crazy 'i want to be on reality tv' personality? Because lets face it, they want drama to sell the show otherwise who's going to watch it?
I don't know.. for me, there is no way i'd want anyone filming any of me and DH's very very private moments/thoughts or conversations we had while going through any of it.
But then again, i'm cynical and hate most reality tv
