Mucus plug question

I posted this on the parenting but thought maybe some of you ladies can help. I am 33 weeks and last week went into preterm labor. I am on pills to stop the contractions, but have still been having some and this morning I lost my mucus plug. How long does it usually take after losing it before labor really starts? I still have so much to do and buy, and I want to know about how much time I may have left. TIA!

Im going to say that with the additional contractions and the loss of the mucus plug that you have probably dialated more. Did you call the doctor? If you are still contracting through the medication they may need to change your medication. I started on the the same one as you and they had to switch me to Procardia.

There is no definitive answer. You should of course alert the dr! For me, with my first, I lost my mucus plug about an hour into labor...but I had a very rapid labor! So you see, this could mean something, it could mean NOTHING.

I told the doctor I was still contracting and he didn't switch me, he just told me to make sure I didn't miss taking one(which I haven't.) But I didn't call to tell him about losing the mucus plug. I figured he would just tell me to wait for something to happen.
