Multiple losses, multiple reasons?
Anyone have this?
This was my 5th Pregnancy.
My 1st ended in a stillborn at 24 weeks due to pre term labor. I had an infection that caused the labor.
Then I had a M/C at 10 weeks, they tested and had no answers as to why. a "fluke".
Then I had 2 plus years of infertility due to multiple causes... I had a chemical pregnancy during that time due to failure to implant.
I had my son through IVF thank god.
Then a miracle pregnancy just ended and I'm told its likely chromonosal at this late a time ( almost 13 weeks).
NO COMMON denominator here at all?
I cant see why or how this is all happening or how they will ever be able to prevent it if I can ever get PG again.
Anyone heard of any multiple factors?

The only way to tell is have this one tested. If you get the same results as your 10 week m/c I would strongly suspect immune factors

Well the Dr said that one was a fluke, he said no reasons found. It was also 7 years ago ad a different Dr.
The sac stopped growing in this PG at 8 weeks, and so he suggested chromosonal as that would indicate the baby died and I didnt M/C till now and immune is more sponteneous I thought? ( Could be wrong...you know better then me) but the 10 week m/c also stopped growing. My 8 week sono showed a HB but the baby was measuring almost 2 weeks behind where I KNEW I was.
My OB now said the MTHFR issues havent played a part as far as he knows in any of these losses except the chemical...which is not a real loss I guess.

Re: Multiple losses, multiple reasons?
I've had mulitple factors that aren't related. Basically, I have bad luck.
The first was ectopic, the second was chemical and the third - at 11 weeks, the heartbeat stopped. After the D&C tests showed the baby had downs syndrome.
I know it's terrible, we all search for a reason, but sometimes there is no connection and no reasoning.
Miscarriage doesn't discriminate.

I am so sorry for your loss, I know how devastated you must feel right now...
After my repeated miscarriages, they found out i had a blood clotting disorder. Don't know if you've been tested for that or not? Wish I could offer more advice...

Re: Multiple losses, multiple reasons?
I have had 3 mc's amd just found out I have a balanced translocation which means 2 of my chromosomes basically broke apart and switched places.

Re: Multiple losses, multiple reasons?
Donna,
First, I am so very sorry for your loss.
I had a loss at 16 weeks in April (from IVF) and had a D&E with no explanations of why..... it seems the baby stopped developing at 13 weeks.
In order to even consider TTC again and put my body and heart on the line, I have been seeing many doctors to get myself healthy. Found out I had gallbladder issues and had it removed. Then I went for massive bloodwork at LI-IVF and today actually found out I have Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome. I wonder if maybe you should get tested for that too. Before today I had never even heard of it.

Re: Multiple losses, multiple reasons?
I'm so sorry. I have no advice, I can't even imagine what you're going through but
I had a missed miscarriage also and tried in vain to find answers. The doctors said it was most likely chromosomal - I mc at 11 weeks, but the fetus measured 7. I saw a heartbeat at 6w3d. It's interesting what you said about immune issues resulting in immediate mc as opposed to missed. I hadn't heard of that, but it does make sense. It also seems as it's not likely hormonal either, as that would also result in an immediate mc.

Donna, I am so sorry for your loss. Have you been tested for clotting disorders? I found out I have a protein-S deficiency, which is rare, but can cause miscarriage.

For the first 10 week m/c even if it was immune a "regular" ob would just say a fluke since it wasn't genetic(that is really the only thing they think causes m/c IMO) A specialty immune Dr would have to look at it. This one it could be chromo but immune factors could also cause the growth to stop by cutting off blood supply to the placenta for example(clotting) Are you homozygous for MTHFR? If so I would urge you to start Lovenox and BA when you are ready to try again.
I guess what is making me suspicious is that your successful pregnancy was ART where you were given progesterone(which acts as an immune moderator) I was also thinking hyperemesis? I don't know a lot about it but can that cause m/c? I'm sorry for all you've been through

I have been on Progesterone daily since I foudn out I was PG. Was still on it when this happened.
Hyperemesis usually doesnt cause m/c unless in its severiest state.
I will look into what you have said when that time comes. And Thank you for your advice,
