multiple miscarriages
Hi Everyone, I'm new to this particular board but have posted on others. I'm a wife and mother to a healthy 2 1/2 year old boy who I had no trouble conceiving at all. But now I'm trying for my second and I don't know what's going wrong. Back in September I miscarried at 12 weeks and had to have a DNC I recovered and after the 2 month period my husband began TTC and we recently got pregnant again but I lost the pregnancy at 5 weeks. Now my dr. wants to run all kinds of tests to see whats happening.
On both miscarriages I got postive pregnancy tests with very faint lines even though I was already a day late with my period. With my son I got an early positive 4 days before missed period and dark line. I'm wondering if somethings wrong with me hormonally and thats why i'm miscarrying and such faint lines. I'm not sure. But I was wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this and if they could recommend anything to me in terms of tests that the doctor could run to try to figure out what's going on. I'm trying so hard to not be discouraged and to remain positive but its so hard when all you want is to be pregnant again.
I'm going Monday and they're ordering a full work up I'm open to any suggestions you might have. Thanks so much.

Re: multiple miscarriages
I am very sorry about your losses. I apologize in advance, I am going to ask a very direct question that may bother you - after the D&C with the 12 week miscarriage, was there a pathology test done afterwards to see if there was a chromosome issue withthe baby?
My last m/c was at 11w5d, baby had downs syndrome. My sister, much younger than I, lost her pregnancy at 13 weeks - chromosome - trisomy 18 - it happens, it's not always genetic or hormonal.
I would ask the dr. to run a full recurrent miscarriage panel, including genetics on you and your husband. Ask him to include the blood test for MTHFR - blood clotting issue.
Again, I am sorry for your loss!

Re: multiple miscarriages
i am sorry for your losses I think doing the recurrent preg loss panel is a great idea. i wish they did it earlier to spare us heartache. Sometimes the tests come back fine but at least you have ur peace of mind
Good luck

Re: multiple miscarriages
I had 2 early miscarriages and went through genetic testing, immune testing, and blood clotting testing. I was told that most early miscarriages are due to chromosomal defects in the fetus. These defects occur more often as you get older, they can be random, or inherited. HTH.
