Munire furniture- problem... UPDATED w/pics at the bottom :( FINAL UPDATE IN OP: GETTING A NEW CRIB
I have the Munire Savannah set and its been great until now. I woke up this morning and realized the front of the crib (the foootboard when coverted) had 2 cracks!! I guess its from the weather changing cold to hot and back and forth?
Ive only had the set for 9 months... just called Munire themselves and they say you have to deal with who you purchased it form. Called the pace I purchased it from and they are sayig take pics and email them and they will decide if they can fix it or replace it.
Im so upset, this set is supposed to be "lifetime furniture", we spend a good amont of $$$ on it.
Anyone else have this happen to them? What did you do to resolve it? TIA
LAST UPDATE***************
So I got int touch with the guy who sold it to me and he said according to the pictures he is gonna get me a new crib. Im happy I guess, but then what... the new crib is gonna do the same thing after 9 months as well? Anyway, its resolved.
Thanks girls

Re: Munire furniture- problem...
I have the same set (linen color). I am disappointed in the quality. It gets rave reviews, but doesn't live up to it for me. Where are the cracks on the foot board? On the bars, the top? When dd wakes up from her nap I am going to look over the entire thing again.

Re: Munire furniture- problem...
I'm sorry I think that's pretty crappy of Munire- you would think that they would guarantee their furniture not the store- makes no sense
I hope someone steps up and does the right thing for you. We bought Munire too and it wasnt cheap- but like you said since its supposedly for a lifetime, price wise its not bad

I have it in the linen color as well. Its on the top part (you know where the child usually bites- mine doesnt but just trying to give you a visual), right where it curves. 2 cracks. Once DD wakes up im taking pics and emailing the retailer where I bought it. I want this resolved ASAP!!!
What dont you like about yours?

Re: Munire furniture- problem...
I had issues with them as well. We had a convertible crib - Essex - anyway - it was FINE as a crib (although scratched REALLY easily). Then when we tried to convert it to the toddler bed - the mattress part falls to the ground when you remove the front railing. The screws don't stay in. We contacted them and they said to contact Behrs who told us to contact Munire since it was more than a year old (we got it in May 2009) who we got nowhere with. So I had to go out and buy a toddler bed b.c I couldn't wait for months with no place for DD to sleep and she was climbing out of the bed every time we put her in so it was no longer safe to keep it as a crib until we could get it fixed by someone.

Re: Munire furniture- problem...
Ugh! I know how you feel.
We bought a Pali set and we are so disappointed in the furniture. Like you said we bought this for DS to grow with but at this rate we will be buying new. Anything nthat touches it leaves a dent, scratch or chip and not even from hard hits. I, myself have done most of the damage, not even DS. I hate to see what it will look like when he starts touching it and banging toys into it.
I email (there is no phone # listed) the company 3 times and they never even repkled. I only recieved an automated response that someone would contact me.
So much for buying $$$$$$$$$ furniture!

I gave up for now - we have the conversion kit and we should be able to use that - as the problem seems to be with the side pieces and the mattress part not the head and foot board - so I HOPE I will at least be able to use those when DD#2 is ready for her bed.
We have a Pali set for DD#1 and it is SO much better quality than the Munire set.

See that is interesting b.c we have a pali set we got at Behr's (where we got DD#2's munire set too) and it is so much better quality - it hasn't chipped or scratched at all and we have had no issues with it. DH and I were sorry we didn't get one of their sets for DD#2. I'm wondering if the quality changed since we got DD"s Pali set in 2007.

Re: Munire furniture- problem...
SO I took the pics today and emailed him. We'll see what they say, Im hoping for a full replacement since its been less than 1 yr.
He said the pics have the be clear and show undeniable damage: Do you think this is good enough?
I know these are all material things and I shouldnt be this upset, but I am literally on the verge of crying. The crib + the dresser cost more than OUR bedroom furniture. You want to get the best for your little girl "lifetime furniture" and now look

Re: Munire furniture- problem... UPDATED w/pics at the bottom :(
That's horrible!
Those pics definitely show undeniable damage, and completely not resulting from anything you could have done to it or normal wear and tear.
That is just poor material and workmanship.
I hope you get a new set!!

Re: Munire furniture- problem... UPDATED w/pics at the bottom :(
I know the feeling. We don't have the same furniture but my son is only 2 months old and it looks like crap. We spent so much money on this "forever furniture" and it's gone to sh!t.
I had the company come and look at it and they said there's nothing that we can do about it and I should have put a towel near where we change the baby. I know it's not as bad as yours but it makes me so upset. They are deep set scratches.
I hope you get this resolved

Re: Munire furniture- problem... UPDATED w/pics at the bottom :(
i had th same problem, i have the same set for my daughter, the individual slats in the foot board and headboard had a hairline crack.. also something else to watch out for is the 'seperation of the paint.. at the seams it seems the paint cracks. i called Behrs(wher i bought the furnitre from) and they had guys come out to my house asses the damage and they gave me a whole new crib and the paint on the night stand was seperating at the seams also so they gave me a new night stand also.

Ugh this is horrible?!? Why is this happening do you think? Is it because its white paint? Do you think this doesnt happen with natural or dark wood? How is this gonna even last until its converted into a full size bed?
Im so disappointed!

Re: Munire furniture- problem... UPDATED w/pics at the bottom :(
I sent them pictures and the guy's reply was "it looks like you keyed it like a car would be keyed". Yes that's right buddy I keyed my furniture! What an idiot. I did buy a warranty from guardsman and they came and refinished the top of the dresser. A few days later is was scratched up again. My main problem was that I bought the set in Maryland and moved up to NY when DS was 7 weeks old.

That certainly does not look keyed. It looks like natural splits in the wood but you still should not be responsible for that. They should give you a new crib.

What with the blotchy paint above those cracks too? Looks like really poor workmanship to me.

That is horrible. I have a Munire set and haven't had any problems with it, in fact I am quite happy with it. I hope they do the right thing and replace it for you!

I have that same set but in cherry. For what it's worth, it's 3 years old now and my DD beat the heck out of that bed and it is fine (scratches a plenty but structurally it's fine).
