My 18-month old was up for 4 hours last night, not crying but unable to sleep, HELP!
I don't know what is wrong with my DS. He was up from 12:40AM-6AM unable to fall asleep, like an adult with insomnia. He wasn't crying, just sitting there staring into space in one corner of his crib. This is not the 1st time this has happened but last night was definitely the worst
It tortures me to see him awake and unable to sleep. I can't sleep if he's awake. I went in to rock him, so did DH. I brought him into our bed, nothing. Finally brought him back into our bed and he fell asleep just before 6 but ws up again at 8AM. He didn't nap well yesterday either, just 30 minutes and woke up screaming unlike anything I'd heard before.
He is a great sleeper, always STTN and goes to bed without a problem. Don't understand what could be going on, how do I help him fall asleep. He's in his crib now trying to fall asleep and can't, he's just sitting there.
I feel so helpless

this was Luce Friday night.
totally freaked me out. I went out with friends for dinner after putting him down around 7:30. dh said he woke up around 11 and he couldn't get him to go back down. I got hime at midnight.
I thought maybe he just wouldn't go down without me, but nope. up. 1 am. 2 am. 3. 4. finally at 5 he crashed. woke up again at 7:30.
I tried everything. I thought he may have just been mad at me for going out lol. he was acting weird too. friggin scary. i asked dh if he could have eaten lead paint or something .
he's been fine the last two nights though. fingers crossed that it never happens again.
maybe it's the age?

He is teething but I gave him motrin before bedtime. He's never been a bad teether but I see a canine about to cut through.
But I just don't see how teething can explain this. I don't know, maybe it does explain it but still, how do I help my baby sleep. How can my little 18-month old function on 6 hours of sleep? Why can't he fall asleep?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm just desperate to help him. He's such a good boy - no crying, just occasional whining after an hour or 2 of sitting there, he seems frustrated. I just want to get him to sleep.
ETA: It doesn't help that he's napped on;y 30 minutes each of the last 2 days. His nap is usually 2 hours.

Anyone else? I am dreading tonight. I can't take my child not being able to sleep again. I feel so sorry for my little guy
It's been 17 minutes since I put him in bed and he hasn't fall asleep yet? Doesn't bode well for later tonight.
