my 2 cents on fast pass plus for non Disney resort guests

I was a little leery about fast pass plus since we were staying offsite and couldn't reserve 60 days in advance and we were going the week of February break when it can be crowded. But it worked really well. (I should also add that I hadn't been to Disney in so long it had never even used regular fast pass!)

They have a bunch of kiosks around the parks with people there to help you or do it for you. We always got a time we wanted for our rides and they worked around our food reservations too. We were able to do all major rides with less than 5 min wait times on crowded days at a normal time of the day.

And honestly even though the parks were crowded we never waited for more than 20 to 30 min for any ride even if the standby times said 50 minutes.

Just wanted to let people know for us fast pass plus worked out well and was very easy.

Glad you had a good experience. I have been reading on DisBoards that FP lines were really long. So this is good to hear.

I was at WDW the week before you and we had a great experience. We stayed onsite so we were able to pick our FPs ahead of time. But I saw where the kiosks were set up and there were tons of castmembers helping people. My only complaint is the limit of 3 in one park per day. Hopefully that changes at some point.

thank you!!! we leave on Monday to take our 3 year old DS for the first time. I've been there a bunch of times before, but this is the first going as a momChat Icon so I've been STRESSING!!! HAHA especially about wait times, etc....DS has trouble standing in line for 5-10 minutes to put in my order at Panera... I'm stressing about the 45-60 minutes waits I've been reading about for Disney! So its nice to know they MIGHT not be as long as they're saying. we're staying on property, so I put in for a few fast passes already.... but couldn't get all of the ones I wanted. So its nice to hear there might be a little hope of riding some rides without them! LOL

glad you had a great time!

I like being able to reserve in advance but we used to get 4-6 a day and you can only get them in one park which is hard for us. We used to be able to go to say Ak in the morning, hotel for a swim or nap, then say EPCOT at night. Can't do that really anymore and ride what we used to. I hope that they give maybe one or two more FPs and get rid of the tiring in EPCOT and HS. Hard when you only get one of the popular rides. The new system works best for those who have either never been or never used FP.

I am not anti the new policy. Waiting to see how it works but my kids do not do well in lines past about 20-30 mins and so I hope we don't have to skip some they want to do that we used to just FP.

Glad to hear the lines weren't bad I saw lots of pictures of splash mountain, BTMR etc with huge FP lines.

Can I ask what rides you got FPs for?

Splash mountain is currently closed for renovations... Don't know when it will open.

We did FP for:

HS - tower of terror, buzz light year, and the extreme stunt show

Mk -' space mountain, big thunder mountain and Peter Pan

Ak - dinosaur, Safari, and the rapids ride

Epcot - mission space, spaceship earth and soaring

DS just turned 5 so we also did toy story, test track, bugs life, and a bunch of other kid friendly rides and really found the standby times were all inflated by about 15 minutes.
FP lines we just walked right up and we were given choices of the times we wanted even day of. Since we didn't do hopper tixs was easier to plan by day.

Also wouldn't waste FP on shows... Never had to wait long...

For anyone not going on peak days I can't imagine the waits would be too bad.

We were at MK Wednesday and i thought the kiosk lines were atrocious....I was glad we stayed on site.

Oh and as a side note...At one point the fast pass return line for space mountain extended all the way to the people mover! The whole scanning process slows things down IMO

Thanks for the update! We re going over the summer and will be the 1st time with the new system (we go every year pretty much). Was curious to see people's experience with the new system during a peak time. My kids don't handle 30 minute lines and we never have waited more than 15-20 minutes in the past and do all the rides in one day (really worked the fast pass system to the limits before - whole day carefully planned around it).

Thanks for posting - we're going in Sept and I was getting a little worried. It's nice to hear a review from someone who went during a busier time.

Can I ask your secret for scoring Soaring and Test Track on the same day?? That was my one compliant - I didn't like the tier system especially at Epcot, when I had no desire for the other choices and we could only pick Test Track OR soaring not both the same day

We're going to Epcot in June and I've been reading about this as well. What I've read is to get there at rope drop and get on line for one of them. Then send DH to go get the fast pass for the other while you wait. I know it's not ideal, since they're not close to one another, but it "seems" to be the best option.

You can't I don't think the OP did. She got one for soarin, spaceship earth and I think she said mission.

Nferrandi- you can no longer do this. You used to be able to do that but that is a thing of the past. That was with the old FP system. No paper FPs anymore. You MUST get FP+. They make you pick one from tier 1 and 2 from tier 2. If you are off site you must get in line to pick your FP+ choices. If you are on site and want to ride both. You can reserve 60 days in advance one for either of those two. Then if you get there for rope drop you ride whichever one you did not pick a FP for. The old FP machines have been removed from all parks. So no more running around...but can be a pain if you stay off site.

we didn't fast pass Test Track....DH went to get our fast passes and I went with DS to test track to wait on line first thing when the park opened. DH met us while we were on line and we waited about 20 minutes.

That's exactly what wanted to do. We are not staying in site, so I won't be able to do fast pass in advance. Is there one booth to book you fast pass + for the day? Where in Epcot is that located?

We didn't do Epcot, but at MK and AK there were several kiosks throughout the park. If they are smart, they will add even more, because the lines were really long when we walked by them. I imagine it's worse in the Summer.

The kiosks were all over and I'm guessing they will add more. They also had workers standing nearby with IPADS who would also do fast pass for you.

Yes the lines for the kiosks were just as long as a ride! We were lucky that we have magic bands and could adjust passes or times on our smartphones. That was definitely a plus to staying on property!
